Children's alarm clocks

I have promised my dd1 an alarm clock of her own before she starts big school. And now I can't find one for her. She is very girly, and likes Disney princesses, etc. I have looked on the Disney website, they have wall clocks but no alarm clocks. Any suggestions?

We were talking about alarm clocks yesterday and someone said that their neice had one that was a big rabbit thing that when the alarm went 'off' the rabbit opened it's eyes and stuff so kids knew they could get out of bed now, (not much info there for you really, sorry). My friend bought a silly one from Argos - have you looked at their website?

DS1 has a Winnie the Pooh one, it opens its eyes when it's time to get up (also has an optional audible alarm - Pooh says "I'm all grumbly in my tummy, time for something sweet" or somesuch..we've switched that off!) It came from Great Little Trading Company (though I read on here a week or so ago that there are some problems with them at the moment). I've an idea jojomamanbebe do them too. Otherwise, yes check out Argos - bet they do a Barbie one or something similar.

We have one of the rabbit ones which was discussed on here a month or two ago. It did work for us sleepwise until ds worked out how to wake it up ahead of the alarm but like many it seems to have mysteriously stopped. We got ours from either GLTC or Blooming Marvellous, can't recall which.

My dd2 has a Simpsons one. Instead of ringing or buzzing, it has Homer talking to wake you up. I think I got it in Argos.

I don't know if you're willing to pay postage from the US, but there are loads on eBay, like this , for example!

TalkingTree · 08/09/2003 21:33

Thank you every one for all your suggestions.

Tamum, that looks perfect -- dd1 would swoon!. Can I really justify the shipping costs? No but I'll probably get it for her anyway!

We did have one of those Rabbit ones with eyes that open, but never got on with it - it would go off erratically, and I had to set it late at night, not at children's bedtimes, because even at 7.30pm I couldn't set it for 7am. It would just go off straight away.

Well, you could always do what I do and have a look at what else the seller is selling, and then buy more on the basis that you'll save on the postage
(It's just the kind of thing my dd would love, she's just started school too, so I knew exactly what to look for!)

I bought it! I'm no longer an ebay virgin!! Thank you for introducing me to the wonderful world of ebay! Its fun!! .... spending spirals out of control, as do exclamation marks!!!

Is the rabbit clock the one GF goes on about for getting toddlers to have a lie-in?

tamum · 09/09/2003 22:33

Oooh, it's a slippery slope once you start, and realise the many many Barbie/Disney related items that we just can't get over here.......
(I started with a Barbie dressed as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz for my dd, and now have a feedback of 140, heaven help me)
Have fun, TalkingTree!
