What's the best baby bath seat, please?

Up untill now we've been using the sponge bath support(from Mothercare)which is great, but Ds is now 4 months and has outgrown it and his baby bath, already. He is very long and very squashed up in his bath,so we're going to try him in "the big bath" next week and was wondering which bath seat to buy.I've seen the round plastic "seats" that you put the baby in,the plastic bath supports and the inflatable floaty ones-they all look like a good idea.
Any recommendations,please?

TIA .

Hi Bubb,

We've got one that's a bit like a deckchair - plastic base and a waterproof canvassy chair. Got it from Blooming Marvellous. It's called a baby bath sling and looks like this baby bath sling .

It's fab and ds very happy in it.

Thanks Lummox-It looks like a baby bouncer and does look rather comfy.Ds might fall asleep in there.

We've got one of the round seats - its fine once little one can sit up unaided. Before then its a nightmare!!

bubbaloo · 09/10/2005 20:00

I quite like the round ones but ds can't quite sit up yet,so perhaps that one isnt suitable untill he's a bit bigger.I'm "watching "one on Ebay at the mo-very similar to yours Lummox,so I may be lucky and get that one.

we've got a 14 week old baby who's just transferred to the big bath. We find it hard on our backs so have bought a "supabath" from Mothercare. I't a baby bath that hooks over the edge of the big bath so the baby is sitting much higher up. I think it will do her for about six months, until she's really big enough for the big bath

I've got one of these which was good. You can have it for the postage + £1. Postage shouldn't be much, could check for you at PO tomorrow. Hope the link works it's the first time I've tried doing one!

Swizzles, that sounds great, but I've just looked at it on Mothercare and it's 70cm x 68cm which is actually slightly smaller than the baby bath I've already got.Ds is very long.

ive got one like northender and it was FANTASTIC for Jess.... not getting rid of mine though - bump will be using it.

We got the round sit up one too but jess hated it, she now just goes in the big bath without anything but she is 14 months now!

bubbaloo · 09/10/2005 20:51

Northender-That's really nice of you thanks, but I've just won the one on Ebay that I was bidding for, otherwise I would have gladly had yours.
I can't do "links" but it's item number 7716226920,which is a similar one to yours and J&BM.

the supabath is really designed for sitting up rather than lying down. It had a groove to sit the baby's bum into! I agree it's short, but it's fine if the baby is sitting up

I know you've got one now, I just posted this in case anyone else reads it

CarolinaFullMoon · 10/10/2005 17:54

um, just hold him?

(you can tell I don't do baby gadgets, can't you )

he'll be able to sit up by himself in a few short months, so why bother?

fruitful · 10/10/2005 18:23

I had one of the round ones for dd but never used it - once she could sit up we didn't feel we needed a seat for her. Plus there's not much time between sitting and crawling and once they can move, the bath is their oyster!

We have a hard plastic lie-back seat as that was all that was available when we bought it. I've seen ones that fold flat for travelling, which would be good. And the cloth ones look more comfy.

Carolina - the seat is fab for when you're bathing a non-sitting baby and a toddler at the same time.

bubbaloo · 10/10/2005 20:52

Thanks Swizzles.I think the M&P one we have at the mo is also designed for sitting but ds does like to stretch out in there.
I would just hold him Carolina but it just makes it a bit easier to have a support-he's a bit of a wriggler.

hmm

saw the error of my purchasing ways when Stripe decided she wanted to lie flat in the supabath. Her head hangs over the edge in manner of woman in flake advert

Mine at my mums.... its a french one with an adjustable crotch bit so the seat grows with them - I love them and buy them for all my friends babies and they love them too in turn!

Thermobaby by Daphne (or could be visa versa)

have a look here but ignore the comments about not being comfy for baby boys and needing a sponge on the crotch support as it is just not correct. Also, my enormous DS still uses this at my mums and he is seriosly over-sized!

If I knew how to link to photos I would send you one of my DS in his when he was tiny - he loved it!
