Can I bore you with my mini/maxi micro scooter confusion?

OK. DD (almost 4) is very tall and quite heavy (certainly over 18kg but not by very much). She is not the most agile or physical of children! Has had a balance bike for a year and is now fairly confident on it (can scoot along quite happily but I can tell that she's not superconfident or in complete control iyswim!) So she'd like one of these 3-wheel Micro scooters for her 4th birthday. Now do I get a mini micro or a maxi micro?

Mini has no adjustable handle and max weight is 20kg but I believe it's lighter and therefore easier to control.

Maxi has adjustable handle and max weight 50kg but it's meant for 6yrs+ so is heavier. Also I'm wondering if there's anything else about it that would make it totally unsuitable for a nervous 4yo - like is it superfast or something?

All advice greatly received. If we can manage with a Maxi that would be great, given they cost a bloody fortune, but I don't want her to be put off by it so would get a Mini if necessary. Just worried that she'll outgrow the Mini (in terms of her physical size rather than her capability) too fast. If she's 18kg now, I'm wondering how long it would be before she reached 20kg. I have no clue about these things. Please help!

Oh, and it has to have a T-bar handle. I think I would faint dead away to see her careering along holding on to a joystick handle.

Depends...if she is very tall then i would go for the maxi tbh. I wouldn't worry about the weight thing, it's a red herring. DD2 is 4.5 and 110cm tall. I noticed the other day that her mini micro just looks far too small for her now (but not shelling out for a maxi - she can borrow her sisters!)

The maxi is def not as lightweight so not quite as zippy as the mini. The board is firmer, not bendy like the mini so that may give her more confidence. If the handle on the maxi is still a wee bit too high for her you can pop the button and push it right down, it just means its not locked in place but won't move around so nothing to worry about.

Well, who would have thought I knew so much about these blimmin' scooters Grin

Heymammy, you know loads and you're a really fast typist!

DD is 108cm so the mini will probably be a bit small then if it looks small for your DD2.

Not quite as zippy is probably a good thing. I think I read somewhere that the Maxi handle can go down quite low but it's handy to know it can push completely down.

Also, no doubt I'll be lugging the thing to and from school on the buggy come September. Is the Maxi so much heavier that it'll make this a pain in the arse difficult?

We got the maxi 3 wheeled on for our dd (3years) and she manages fine

It is a bit heavier Sweet but they are all a pain in the butt to lug around really so no difference there Grin

I would go for the maxi scooter. DS2 age 3.5 about 110cm tall rides his brothers alot with no problems at all, the handle bar goes right down. You would probably only get a year or so out of a mini but a number of years out of the maxi. Only bad thing is that they are abit heavier to carry around.
