DD will be 17mo at Christmas and she adores pusing her toys around in my washing basket and is always trying to push her own buggy, I would love to get her a pram or buggy from Santa but nearly all I have seen are from 3 years +. I know theres a Winnie the Poo one in Argos thats 18months + anyone know of anymore?

The £5 stroller in ELC says from aged 2. Ds got it last Christmas when he was 20 months and it's been a big hit.

Ignore the age guides!! if your dd likes buggies, buy her one. Manufacturers a) have no idea what age suits what and b) only put the guides so you can't sue them if your dd injures herself on it.

My dd loved the umbrella type buggy from elc since she could walk. And then for her second birthday her nanny bought her a lovely pram from Argos which she plays with a lot also.

DD has the £5 elc stroller too. i don't see the point in buying a dolls one that costs nearly as much as one for a real child!

poppyseed · 05/10/2005 18:05

ditto the £5 stroller here too.
It's small and easy enough for them to get the toys in and out of and is lightweight enough to push...and more importantly steer!

tassis · 05/10/2005 18:12

the other great thing about the elc one is that if they give up wanting to walk you can fold it up and hang it on your pushchair...

My ds is also a buggy fan, we bought one at about 18 months, just ignored the age warnings, very often they are irrelevant. He would walk a long way with the buggy, loved pushing it and it gave him balance. Woolies also do an umbrella buggy for 5 pounds, pink or a pretty greeny colour. Worth every penny.

steppemum · 05/10/2005 18:42

I also think the buggy shape is a lot easier for a little one to push than a proper pram shape

Go for the ELC £5 one - she will love it. My DD is 16 months and got one for her birthday which she couldn't use at the time because she only started walking at 13 months. But she loves it. And all her contemporaries love theirs too. We take it out when we go for a picnic and she loves it, also marches around the house with it. Am thinking of suggesting the ELC pram as an idea for Christmas for family.

They have to put the 3+ age on if it has any parts that could choke a baby. As some parts may be small thay don't pass, so not really something to worry about. Just get a nice sturdy one as she will bang it into evey wall and push down heavily on handle.

ditto... ignore the guides! i had one for my 3rd irthday and LOVED it!

Trickorflum · 07/10/2005 22:07

oh my god, all the good toys are for 3 years and over, they are just covering their ar*es. if your house was inspected it would only be safe for three years and over.

i got one for dd when she was about a year old. She is now 20 months old and still alive.

DD got a pram for her 1st borthday from Toys R Us. That said from 3 years roo. It's been fine. This Christmas (she'll be 3y8m) she is having abig silver cross pram and that says from age 5.

LIZS · 08/10/2005 10:17

The elc range does start form aged 2 now. We had the Winnie the Pooh one and dd, now a petite 4, has pretty much outgrown the handle height but you can at least use it as a cradle too. She had it for her first birthday and loved it. Now looking at a Silver Cross pram but the one I, sorry she, would like (mini version of her full size one as a baby) is probably a bit too big (says aged 5 -10) and £70 ! Also not sure where we'd store it. Have you got yours yet Hula, how high is the handlebar ?

SleepySuzy · 08/10/2005 10:34

My dd had the mothercare princess buggy from about 16 months. She loves it - and it was less than a fiver in the sale!

It is really light, just the right height, and it folds really small. Fab.

I just ignored the age guide!

kbaby · 09/10/2005 10:07

ive been trying to get the same (a pram for 18 mnth old) Ive seen the winnie the pooh in argos and also a really nice pink one in the mothercare xmas catalogue. Its similar to the winnie the pooh but a girlier design.

LIZS · 09/10/2005 10:15

They used to do a Mamas and Papas version of the WTP one in Toymaster stores and a Disney Princess one I think
