I'm after a company/shop name where I can buy some large toys suitable for corporate areas (you know, like the play areas you can find in shops/garages/gyms). They need to be large so that they can't walk off with them as unfortunately a lot of smaller stuff has gone missing..... . Seem to rremember a catalogue going round our playgroup a few years ago that we used to get some soft play stuff from but can't remember its name! Think I also saw a large 3 in a row somewhere, but haven't a clue where to start looking....
Anyone help me at all? Hope so!! Our local gym is refurbishing their toy area and have asked me to suggest some better toys as I'm always moaning about the state of them . Better come up with the goods now then hadn't I!! Help me out mumsnetters will you please!??

only £69 in John Lewis !!

Kayleigh · 05/10/2005 16:35

Lots of giant games here Giant Dominoes would be good.

Great for starters...many thanks!!
I think that the area available is a little smaller than the successplay seems to need after a quick look.
Has anybody got any good ideas for play equipment - mainly for the under 5s that is a bit different and again, is tricky to steal - perhaps because of its size/etc?? You can get sticky soft building blocks I think.....[goes off to have a hunt, but realises that mumsnetters have loads better ideas of websites than me]
Cheers...keep thinking won't you!

Went on the website and onto shopping online. They have one of those bead tables. That should suit under fives and hopefully be too heavy to steal easily. My two have always loved them

poppyseed · 05/10/2005 16:52

ooooh yes, I had forgotten about these! Nice one....!. I don't think that the cost would be too much of a consideration as it's a corporate thing as well.

Mamut tables and chairs are good price and very sturdy, I know of a few nurseries that use them.
Mula bead frame is fairly big. I have seen it cable tied onto a small table to make it even more secure.

I have always find that little tikes toys always last very well in public play areas and under heavy use in nurseries. Houses rocking horse slides cozy coupe are all ones I have seen do well. We also had a kitchen and work bench but the accessories started to disapear. Little Tikes \link{http://www.adventuretoys.co.uk/littletikeschoice.asp?subcat=Trucks\Chunky trucks were always popular too.

sorry last one again. Little Tikes Chunky trucks were always popular too.

Poppyseed, Ikea is your place.

auntymandy · 06/10/2005 06:56

I just 'googled' large toys, large garden toys, soft play you can browse and see what you find!
There is always ebay!

frannykenstein · 06/10/2005 08:03

I would suggest getting the following catalogues:

Galt Educational

and Asco

If your budget can stretch to one of these Suffolk boxes then I would highly recommend one. They are virtually unbreakable, can be played with by several children at once, and would be hard to steal as they are heavy. Hope you find something you like.

frannykenstein · 06/10/2005 08:08

Whoops, Asco link didn't work.

here

They are definitely on the expensive side, but have the most marvellous range of play equipment, and are very sturdy, enough to withstand nursery use (which I don't think Ikea stuff is). They have tables and chairs etc. as well.
