toddler bunk bed

is there such a thing or do I have to find a carpenter to custom build me one?

googling only led me to normal bunk beds.

basically the dc share the smaller roomwhich really is too small for a full size bunk. we already have one ikea toddler bed that fits perfectly into a corner, so leaves enough floor space to play.

do you mean you need it to be shorter than normal bunk beds? Argos do shorty bunk beds which may be what you are after.

thank you, they look great.

I need the bed to be even shorter, though. matress size 160cm x 70cm.

there are some here too

BertieBotts · 08/01/2011 12:54

160 x 156 x 98 here

154 x 160 x 98 here

I wonder whether a carpenter made bed/adaptation on the one you have would be cheaper though. These both seem wider which might be because of stability.

So if you do get a carpenter made one you might have to screw it to the wall.

thanks a lot, these look really good and would also fit as the lenths is the issue.
some daft person our landlord had fitted wardrobes installed on the long wall of a narrow room, that*s why we have a funny niche and no space for a normal size bed.

DD was going to have a loft bed recently and we went here. They will make you up what you want, there were triple bunks, shorter bunks, cabin beds etc. Think they deliver all over UK.

COCKadoodledooo · 08/01/2011 14:10

Dh made ds1 a cabin style bed, before we'd decided to have ds2. A high sleeper wouldn't fit (sloping ceiling) and a normal bed/normal midlseeper would have left him no room to play (his is a v small room). He has less room to play now because ds2 is in with him - on a mattress under his bed!

IF your ceilings are normal height then the Ikea reversible bed might fit (though I'm not sure it'd be short enough for you), with a mattress on the floor underneath.

Had thought about swapping rooms with them, but to giv you an idea of its size, we'd be able to get our double bed in there, but not actually to open the door...

It's worth a look at Thuka beds. They do a shorty version and the advantage with them is that they are adaptable so can be single beds, bunks, mid or high sleepers. They can also be adapted to full size singles if you need to in the future. They're a bit more expensive but imo worth it because they can last long term.
