Toy remote control helicopter - does a decent one that actually works and doesn't fall apart exist?

Ds got one for Christmas. A micro r/c helicopter with gyro control etc etc.

We've had 'flying' type toys before and they've never been much good, but I was seduced in Hawkins (blimey there's a thoughtGrin) into believing the (£30Shock) one they had at Christmas was as 'brilliant' and indestructable as the chap demo-ing it told me it was

Anyway ds, who isn't esp tough on his toys, couldn't even get the thing to take off at all.

Dh then found it was missing a bit on the rotor blades, so I took it back with the intention of getting another. 'Oh dear' the girl in the shop said 'not another one of those..'. It seems loads were returned, so I don't want to get another one from Hawkins.

Does anyone's dc have something like this that's actually worth it? I don't really want to get into the realms of very expensive rc toys for grown up enthusiasts, and I thought 30 quid was pretty steep anyway.

Any ideas or shall I replace his Christmas present with something else?

I got my boyfriend a similar sounding one for Christmas online from firebox for £25. He's 20 and loves it and is getting quite good, I'm the same age but have never played with remote control things and I'm doing pretty well too.

It looks fairly flimsy but it's been into the wall many times, crashed onto his desk, wardrobe, door, floor and it's still going strong!

I'm not sure what age group it's targeted at but it is easy to use and really stable. I think they might still have free UK delivery at the moment too.
