I Hate That.........

Pampers are subtly implying that their nappies aid developement, and if you don't buy them, your baby won't sleep at night and won't develope.

I hate them!

And if you don't use pull-ups that feel wet your child will still be in nappies as you pack them off to university.

bonym · 03/10/2005 13:52

Me too . Although, if they'd make my baby sleep at night I might reconsider... .

(That was a joke btw...)

colditz · 03/10/2005 13:53

i really don't see the point in pull ups.

pull ups are the worst thing ever invented

hunkerpumpkin · 03/10/2005 13:54

Nor do I Colditz - but then I have a child who after a poo needs to be pegged on the line and hosed down, not just a quick wipe...

QueenOfQuotes · 03/10/2005 13:57

pull ups were a godsend for DS1 who insisted on taking his nappy off from a (relatively) early age. It took him MUCH longer to master the "pull up/pull down" technique - so very useful for that.

As for the advert - I hate it too.........you should use Tesco Value nappies - then they really feel when they're wet

NomDePlume · 03/10/2005 13:59

QoQ, same here with the pull-ups. They were a godsend for DD

GeorginaA · 03/10/2005 18:41

Pull ups fantastic here for a toilet trained ds1 who wasn't dry at night, but wanted to try to go wee. He could use them as "pants" to at least have a go, but it wasn't the end of the world if he didn't make it. When he was ready to try for being dry at night, he decided to stop wearing them and bar one or two accidents when he was ill has been dry ever since...

(agree with you about the irritating ads though!)

Pull ups have their pluses... not felt that my baby wouldn't develop without pampers though - am I too stupid to be their target audience

bensmum3 · 03/10/2005 18:58

My ds is just 2, has a huge vocabulary, can count (in a fashion) has gender awareness (asked a male friend if he had his wifes socks on? they were pink), can catch a ball, sleeps at night, all because we use cloth nappies and training pants,
Sorry, couldn't resist that one

flamebat · 04/10/2005 08:10

Oh no!!! Is that why my DD thinks everything is pink (the only colour word she's mastered) - we only used cloth for about 14 months, until she started being a nightmare at change times and pull ups seemed the way out of the tears????

Tis cute though - she points at everything saying "Pink?" and gets all pleased when it really is pink

tarantula · 04/10/2005 08:52

PMSL Dd knows the colour pink too. I put it down to the fact that she wears it alot (cos thats what she gets bought as presents) and Im always moanig cos I hate pink (ungrateful cow that I am). Obviously Im totally wrong and its the cloth NAPPIES. Doh!!!

Do you think her development will be stunted now shes out of nappies during the day?

Hunkerpumpkin, could I do a quick hijack as I also have a child with sloppy poo syndrome - he's just 2. How old is yours and if as old as mine are you starting to think it's not normal? He has a check with a HV soon so I'll ask then, but just wondering...
