LABEL comforter but not looped labels ...anyone?

princessProudmel · 29/12/2010 23:09

:)

ds2 seems to like the labels on his muslin squares.
I'm trying to find a comfort blanket that has those labels on it. Dd has one from Comfortblankets.co.uk but the labels are looped. I bought one of these for ds2 but he's not really taken to it.

I want flat, silky, longish labels that are not looped iyswim.

The reason I'm looking is because it's not easy for him to locate the one label on the muslin. (he's 14m) So having more labels would be better :)
Anyone found one one these???

I'm going to have to cut the labels out of loads of my clothes and sew them onto a muslin aren't I?...... Grin

why cant you just cut the loop

princessProudmel · 29/12/2010 23:14

hmmm didn't think of that! Grin

But that still might not work because they are also not that silky. They have a texture to them. They're made out of ribbon and some velvet. Ironically dd's fave label on her comforter is the label from the company/brand, not the specially made pretty labels!!

My ds1 stil loves his labels at nearly 5.
He uses the ones on his clothes now and will even now ask where his M&S labels are (this covers both GAP and M&S as their clothes have big labels.

Your ds might be a bit small but my mum started giving DS bits of ribbon and he used to love going to the shop and choosing other bits in favourite colours and fancy patterns.
Also very easy to replace if lost.

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 29/12/2010 23:16

In fact DS1 even puts his pants on back to front for easy access to a silky label Xmas Hmm

BibiBelle · 29/12/2010 23:17

mothercare clothes have great labels - it used to be M&S but that was 20yrs ago when I was young!

what about a cellular blanket with a satin edge all along it? Babies R Us also had a comforter with satin edges

BibiBelle · 29/12/2010 23:18

Ineedacleaner - I hate to tell you but I only went cold turkey when I was 27 and had DD1 Blush

Dunnes stores have good label too if you're near one of those

hellymelly · 29/12/2010 23:21

I had one for DD1,I think it was called a taggie? I don't think the labels were looped. But really,if you can thread a needle, then buy some soft satin ribbon, chop it into bits, and sew them onto a little square of fabric.Easy.

princessProudmel · 29/12/2010 23:21

:) Thanks :)

The one from Comfort blankets that dd has, has a satin back, so lots of satin available...but it's the label on my pjs, his clothes or his musly he loves.

Do you know what? I think I will just do what I said and chop all silky lables out of my things and sew them on to a muslin. Then I can make a few.
And it will be lentil weavery and homemade :)

here is what I had -www.thatcuteage.com/s9p1-Taggies?src=ad_taggies they all look looped though. The dinosaur is very cute!and you could as suggested, just snip the loops.

BibiBelle · 29/12/2010 23:23

Taggies have loops on them, DD3 is a fan (that's my girl Grin)

princessProudmel · 29/12/2010 23:23

We have a taggie book, but again it's ribbon labels and they are not the same. They have some sort of 3d stitching on some of them.

He has a muslin in his cot every nap/bedtime so is used to it.

I just wondered if what I wanted already exsisted!!!

OP posts:
princessProudmel · 29/12/2010 23:25

Oh yes the taggies do look more ribbony than the one dd has. Hers has some velvet loops....

I'll link it.

dd's in the customer gallery...if they still have it!!

easy to make! why not have a look on a website like folksy, there are loads of people on there who make toys and taggy blankets. if you have something in mind you could ask for something special to be made.

BibiBelle so I can expect him to still look like he is rummaging about in his pants for the next 22 years then Xmas Grin
Ah well just like his dad then.

ILoveDolly · 29/12/2010 23:31

You could make tags by looping the ribbon then stitching either side to close the loop. Raw/hemmed edges are going to fray upon suckage almost instantly.

BuckingxmasFells · 29/12/2010 23:32

you want cheap satin ribbon - washed loads before you stitch it on. Good stuff is too thick and won't get floppy.

A v cut in the end normally stops fraying.

princessProudmel · 29/12/2010 23:33

In that link they all look ribbony too. Maybe they've changed them...

princessProudmel · 29/12/2010 23:35

ILoveDolly I am looking for no loops :) Just lables. I'll check out folksy. Thinking I'll make it myself though.

Lol at the rummaging at 22!!

:)

BuckingxmasFells · 29/12/2010 23:36

or these perhaps

ILoveDolly · 29/12/2010 23:39

cutting off the labels and sewing them onto a muslin would certainly be the cheapest option! Good luck Grin

princessProudmel · 29/12/2010 23:44

Bucking they're great :) I wonder if they'd be like shop labels. You must be able to buy them somewhere.

Dolly yes deffo.

Also the ones you buy always seem to be fleecy and ds2 likes muslin. None online seem to have muslin as the main material.

:)

Maybe I could sell them! Wink

BuckingxmasFells · 30/12/2010 00:27
