Any thoughts on the bumbo seats thinking of getting one but not sure if they are worth it!

I found mine really useful. Ds got fed up of reclining in his bouncy chair round about 4 months and couldn't sit up yet so the seat kept him happy as it makes them sit upright iyswim. I also used it for weaning as it's so easy to clean and saves getting food all over bouncy chair or car seat and ds was too little for the high chair

NannyL · 29/09/2005 19:07

i know of several babies (under 6 months) who cant yet sit unaided getting out by themselves

(unfortunatley one was on the table at the time, had been left for a moment, and fell head first onto the floor)

They say suitable for ANY flat surface.... as long as you ONLY ise it on the floor then fine, but dont think even a 'smallish' baby cant get out! trust me they CAN!!!

Gem13 · 29/09/2005 19:08

DD didn't like it...but then she liked things DS didn't like and vice versa. Maybe my next D? will like it.

I got mine from an NCT sale. If you're not sure about the cost of them, keep your eyes peeled for one there or on eBay.

compo · 29/09/2005 19:08

my instructions said not to put it on any surface except the floor I think

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:08

we had one for DS2 and I would thoroughly recommend it!

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:09

found a photo of him in it the other day!

It did make me laugh - he is 3 now!

starshaker · 29/09/2005 19:10

its the best thing i have ever bought dds bum is too big and she cant get uot lol its fab i use it for her play gym (sit her in front so she can reach) and also use it to feed her

starshaker · 29/09/2005 19:11

have a look at this

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:12

awww bless!

starlover · 29/09/2005 19:14

i bought one and it was the biggest waste of money. I can count on one hand the number of times ds has sat in his

i only got it because he started tipping his bouncy chair over
but he hated it. he couldn't reach anything he had dropped and he could hardly move

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:15

yeah I guess its one of those things you have to try!

They either like it or they dont - a bit like Marmite and Lost

starlover · 29/09/2005 19:20

lol jenum! the only good thing is that they sell for almost full price on ebay which is where mine will be going!

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:21
Grin
Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:21

actually I think I sold mine there!

starlover · 29/09/2005 19:26

strangely though i LOVE marmite and lost... wonder if there is a connection

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:26

ahh I love both too - you could be on to something Starlover!

lummox · 29/09/2005 19:30

ds (4 months) really doesn't like his. he keeps trying to throw himself backwards to get out of it. i don't think he could topple it over, but it looks very alarming.

also, quick pointer for anyone whose baby is a bit of a chubster - it says that it is suitable from 4 months and for 4 to 10 kilos. so not much use-time for the (ahem) bigger baby.

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:31

I'm guessing he doesnt like Marmite or Lost then?!

lummox · 29/09/2005 19:43

actually - now you mention it - maybe he is throwing himself backwards to get away from the Marmite.

monstersmummy · 29/09/2005 19:47

I'm getting such a strong Deja vu from this thread!!!

I have one and both my DSs love it. DS1 (2.6) will sit in it reading and DS2 (6 months) alos loves it. They do throw themselves back tho BUT when they are learning to sit they throw themselves back anyway (or at least mine did) and as your not supposed to leave them unattended in it anyway..........

They sell for near full price on ebay anyway.

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:49

that'll be it Lummox!
