I'm starting to get my hospital bag ready and wondered what you all thought the best products were for breast pads, maternity pads, disposable knickers and nappies for newborns. Thanks.

a small teddy to put in the crib with baby - mothercare do some gorgeous ones for about a fiver. Not particularly practical but I think it looks so sweet!

oooooooooooo are we allowed booze in hospital? do you think they'd provide an ice bucket for the bottle of champers I've been saving?

sorry haven't had time to read all this thread - just thought I'd add for those NOT having a CS then the thicker the (maternity) pad the better - you may be waddling but you'll feel much more cushioned especially if you've had stitches.

I really like the cloth Avent breast pads. I've tried them all through two babies and they're lovely and soft (and a load cheaper in the long run).. Nice big maternity pads too! Mothercare ones were fine and Boots and Mothercare disposable knicks. fine too. A tube of Kamillosan is handy too for sore nipples. In terms of labour I packed loads of stuff 1st time. In the end the only things I really enjoyed having were my own pillow - it was really lovely to have the smell and feel of home (and lots comfier too!) - in fact during my 2nd labour I took my own pillow in and they said just as well, cos they'd just run out...! Also I enjoyed a facial water spray and a flannel to be sponged with.Lots of luck.
