Price is the only difference as far as I can see. You can also make your own which is much cheaper still.

We've found that the original Playdoh doesn't dry out as quickly.

Make your own

2 cups flour
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon cream of tartar

Mix and heat - then knead for a while

You can add colours/flavours(smells - like mint/lemon etc)/glitter at the mixing stage

Keeps up to a fortnight - you can make a half mix if that is too much

yeah I had also though of trying to make my own, might be fun. Is it easy enough.
might have a go and then see what funny colours or smell we can come up with

ELC soft stuff or 'palydough' are about the same...

the playdough by crayola tho (sold in waitrose) is much harder and less easy to mould, thats my least fav brnd...

tesco do their own one for about 70p per pot which is a real bargain, works well, but only has a limited range of colours

playdough is definately easy to make... I have had my eleven year old's on to it when they needed modelling dough for animations they were making. They loved it too!
