Does anyone have one of those ironing stools? Are they any good and does anyone reommend them?

Secondly, I am 30 weeks pg (give or take), and am feeling a lot of pressure on my pelvic floor) Would this make them a bad idea (I guess they're kinda sadle-like)? But you're not supposed to spend too long standing (I've got masses of ironing building up), so I'm considering. Don't tell me not to bother ironing, I can't do this.

Lower the board to the sofa?

misdee · 27/08/2003 20:49

i second coddys answer. and also watch a good film and have chocolate handy nearby.

codswallop · 27/08/2003 20:51

and dont do what I do which is to set the whole shebang up and then decide its too late/cant be arsed and spend the pm leaning on the board wathcing the tv.(as the steam hisses out)

lou33 · 27/08/2003 20:53

I do all that misdee and I'm not pg! Seem to have mountains of laundry with 4 children and 1 big husband, my legs give way before it's done.

monkey · 28/08/2003 08:27

Thanks. All my ironing stuff is in basement along with washing machines. I tried once with an ordinary chair but legs (mine & boards) in way, plus didn't feel right lower down.
Does anyone have one of these stools, and are they any good.

What about one of those ironing sheet-type things? You roll it out onto the table or somewhere convenient. I've got one so I don't have to get the ironing board out. Its from Lakeland.

Ikea do lots of cheap stools - anything would work as long as its tall enough.

babster · 28/08/2003 09:21

Sorry, but I totally misinterpreted the heading and thought 'whaaaaat?'

SoupDragon · 28/08/2003 09:41

Me too Babster!!

nursie · 28/08/2003 09:55

Yup, me too! One-track parent mind.

lou33 · 28/08/2003 11:08

Got delivered the new Ikea catalogue yesterday(hoorah!) and they had a table top ironing board in there for sale. Any good for you?

ThomCat · 28/08/2003 12:14

Can't you just send it somewhere to be done as a one off? they pick it up & drop it back to you.

DebL · 28/08/2003 12:59

Babster, Soupdragon, my mind works the same way.....made me read the thread tho.....

monkey · 28/08/2003 14:34

I'm brain dead. I don't get it?

Thanks for the thoughts. I can't see any alternative other than plain old standing up, but that seems so tiring atm. My washing mashine, permanently erected ironing board & everything are in the basement, our TV is on the 3rd floor, most clothes go on 2nd floor or basement, so shagging board/iron/ironing up 4 floors for the TV or 1 floor flor a table & then back down seems more tiring & aggravating than just standing, which is why I thought of the stool, cos your legs aren't then in the way & stuff, but don't want to waste money if people have got one & think it's crap.

You can't think of another meaning for the word "stools"...?

ThomCat · 28/08/2003 14:37

Monkey - hello - why can't you just this once get a company to pick it up and deliver it back all ironed and done. wher are you, I'll find you someone to pick it up myself!
Failing that just wear creased clothes!

wickedstepmother · 28/08/2003 14:37

Another one for the 'what?!' reaction !

wickedstepmother · 28/08/2003 14:38

We all thought it had something to do with poo, Monkey. Unsavoury I know....

Demented · 28/08/2003 14:42

Me too!!! Sitting here LOL!

It's not a nice picture.

monkey · 28/08/2003 14:47

Poo did cross my mnd, but then I thought no, can't be. Maybe I had a fetish for ironing my chairs. Sorry, so tired & dim today.

I'm not in UK, they don't do that sort of thing here, Thomcat, all women are domestic godesses who only have 1 kid so don't have the problem of tons of ironing. I did get a cleaner/help woman about a month ago. I asked her to iron once and was so freaked out by how little she did in the hour I can't bring myself to ask her again. she's great at gardening though.

Anyway, you lot have got too much time on your hands.
