Steri-Bottles - tried them?

I thought the Steri-Bottles sounded like a really good idea and so I bought some in Boots. Then I tried one, followed all the instructions on the pack but it ended up leaking all over me. And I don't mean little drips, I mean ALL OVER me!!

Is there a knack to getting them to work or something? I think I'll give up on the idea right now and just keep taking a sterilised bottle with me!!!

There is a knack to them - You need to make sure you put the lid on squarely and hear it click a few times once you have screwed it on ... and then check it is on properly.

I used them a lot when dd was younger and they were brilliant for long haul plane trips - just use them and dispose of them - no worries about cleaning bottles and trying to sterilise them when travelling for the equivalent of a day and a half.

I did have one time when that happened and it was because I had not put the lid on properly.

I love them! Agree, you have to make sure the lid clicks 4 or 5 times to avoid a deluge.

I thought I'd done it right but I'll try again soon and hopefully get it right!!!!

Just wanted to make sure it was me and not the bottle!!!!

Yeah, just keep twisting until you're sure it won't go any further. I got into trouble with them on holiday, so a couple of tips:

  1. take cartons of milk, not formula cos you can't take powder out separately and mix up when you're ready, cos you can't get the lid off again

  2. throw the empty away. Every time I left it on a cafe table with all the used cups & plates, someone came running down the street after me. In the end, if there was no bin I would take it with me to save them the hassle!

fisil - I was in Burger King when I tried feeding dd with a Steri-Bottle and a couple of people saw me throwing it away and looked at me like I was loopy! It doesn't look THAT much like a regular bottle, surely!!

One thing that really got me is when I was out I realised that BK was the ONLY indoor place in town where you can sit down and feed your baby! How bad is that? There are a lot of other cafes but they all have tiny doors and a lot of steps and inside you'd find it impossible to get the buggy/pushchair around. Surely all towns should be a bit more baby-friendly? Hmmm....off to start a new thread to rant about this!!
