hello having a coffee morning with a friend today. We are both off on our hols this week. I know some of you people on here are buggy mad so wondered if you could help out.
Are the mamas and papas pulse buggys good? friend is in desperate need of getting a holiday buggy and doesn't know what to get. She is a bit of a snob! hehe. Is this the best one to get? thanks laughinglil x

Or a Maclaren Triumph; very light, compact to fold, has hood and basket. Kiddycare sell them at a good price - can't remember exactly but I spent about £47 on mine in July. It was bought as a holiday buggy for my toddler and was great in the airport.

I have the Quest and it is GREAT!!!! Perfect for hols and is kept in the back of the car for our trips out. It does recline enough for dd to sleep comfortably in too. If your friend is a snob she will like the Maclaren website that shows all the celebs using their Maclarens .

I've just bought a Mothercare Citilite and I'm very impressed with it. It's very lightweight and easy to push around, and it stands up by itself when folded. It's quite narrow though, so not for a broad-shouldered, chunky child. I got it on eBay quite cheaply.

Is there a snob factor about Mothercare? I tend to think of buggies being in 3 levels, super cheap (own brand from Woolworths etc), ordinary (Maclaren/Mammas and Pappas/Mothercare) and stupidly expensive (Bugaboo/I'coo/anything really ugly in a weird fabric).

Agree with MeggyMoo, have just come back from Spain and there where a few buggies going on the plane, the Quinny Zapp was tiny, folded down to nothing, unlike mine that seemed to be thrown halfway down the runway & buckled

Have seen on a website a new buggy from Mamas and Papas called a 'Ziko'. Has anyone seen one yet, do they look any good? Would seem to be their competitor to the Techno XT from what I can tell?

the zapp!!

fab buggy. very robust and shockingly small when folded buit large when in use. doest recline and no basket.

in terms of comfort for baby/toddler, I recommend something that fully reclines with some sort of basket underneath to stuff away all those holiday extras. There are also buggy bags which offer some sort of protection although mine have all been fine when flying.

Have travelled with urban detour (2 types) - cumbersome, difficult to fold down & heavy
Pliko - fab - DD slept in it, good storage & stands alone when folded - handy whilst getting boarding pass etc out of pockets
Aria - ok - no leg rest, smaller seat, DD very difficult to get to sleep in.

Lots of people recomemmed maclarens, IMO they don't look that comfortable to me, but anything that reclines with an adjustable leg rest has to be good.

sheepskin liners are also a great idea - cool in summer, warm in winter

How old is her child?

IlanaK · 22/09/2005 17:20

I have the pulse. Bought specifially for a three week holiday we are going on soon. I had a pram (not suitable for the plane) and a volo which doesn't recline. I chose the pulse because it reclines so fully. I did compare it with the maclaren alternatives. I have to say, it has now become my buggy of choice for daily use. It is really comfy for ds, great recline, easy to fold and comfortable to push. Reasonable size basket. And also takes my buggy board. I am very happy wiuth it.

I really wanted a zapp but bought a Maclaren Quest as it reclines for naps. I still love the way the zapp looks but I am sooo glad. A few friends have zapps and they tend not to take them out for the day. We met one zapp owner for a day out a few weeks ago and I asked where the zapp was and they said that the wheels probably wouldn't have handled the ground (we were at the zoo) and that they were concerned their child would want a nap.
