scooter for 7 year old

dd2(2) got a mini micro for her birthday and suddenly a scooter is the top of dd1(7)'s christmas list.

I'm guessing this may just be a fad and a bit of jealousy, but she's sticking by it and it's all she's asked for.

I've tried her out on 2 wheeled scooter but she says she can't balance and pretty much all the 3 wheeled ones seem to be too small.

I'm not prepared to pay for a micro scooter as I'm not sure if she's really going to get so much use out of it. Equally I don't want to get something so cheap that it's unuseable.

Anyone got any suggestions???

you want a maxi micro

DS(7) has just got this one for his birthday. they do a normal tbar version too.

The stick is extendable so should last a good long while. DS was jealous of DD(4)'s pink micro.

if you're bothered she won't get much use out of it, confiscate her bike Grin

I can really recommend the decathlon scooters. 8y DD has a red one from there, cost about £35. Had it a year now and really impressed. Much better than the other two wheel one she had before it. However it is a 2 wheel one. I am sure within a couple of days she would be fine on it.

mMay not be a fad either. All of DD's friends ahve scooters and use them even more so than their bikes. We even have taken DD's on holidays with us, inc abroad.

Another vote for the Decathlon scooters, DS has one and it is very sturdy and has been fab.

thanks - we're close to decathlon so I might take her there.

That's the thing, she can't ride a bike yet -bless her - she's not the most coordinated.

Maybe you're both right and she will use it more.

Anyone know anywhere where you can try out a maxi micro?

You can try out a maxi micro in John Lewis if you have one near you.

Thanks - I'll see if I can drag DD to one, she doesn't really like shopping Shock

Watching with interest. DS, nearly 7, can't ride a bike yet either and someone told me that scooters are good prepration for teaching them how to balance on a bike. Anyone else think that?
