Advice on buying a Wii please!

DH and I are thinking about buying a Wii for Christmas. We're both complete novices at this kind of thing - DD1 has a DS, but apart from that the last computer game I played on was one of those space invader ones you sat down at in the 80s Grin.

So I'd really appreciate some advice on what we need to buy. I've found this deal on amazon, but don't know what we need to go with it:

  • is Wii fit any good, and do we need it as well as the sports console?
  • there's 5 of us (3 DDs, me and DH)...how many remote controls do we need to have?
  • what's the difference between the motion plus remote, the nunchuck and the standard remote, and which one should I get extra of?
  • and what games would be good to start off with for girls aged 5 and 7 who love dance and music etc.

If you all plan on playing together you will need 4 more remotes and nunchucks, althouh a few games are only upto four players (mario karts being one)

Wii balance board is used for a fair few games so is useful to have. Wii fit plus is fairly fun.

It's handy to have chargers for your remotes too as they run out v quickly.

Other than that it really depends what games you want. Many of them hve periphials that you can use with them, such as dance mats etc. But the games generally tell you what you need.

hth.

Oh games - dd1 currently has Dance Party and is hankering after Dance Dance Revolution 3. She also loves anything Mario and has Mario Karts and wants Mario Bros 3. She won't play Mario Karts without an analouge controller (looks like the old gamecube controller) but you don't need any of those, some people prefer them is all.

DDR3 needs a dance mat - you can get it in a set with the game to buy it seperately.

Wii motion makes the remote slightly more sensitive to your movements but is not needed for any games.
