3 car seats to fit in rear seat of Ford Focus Estate??

We currently have a Ford Focus Estate, but am having difficulty finding 3 car seats that will fit across the backseat.

I am pregnant with my third (due in May 06), so by May I'll need 3 car seats:

  1. for newborn
  2. for DD2 who will be 15 months
  3. for DD1 who will be 2years + 2 months

I currently have Britax First Class for DD1 which apparently lasts up until around 4 years and an infant carrier which came which my Mothercare Urban Detour buggy for DD2.

So..... the Britax First Class will still be usable for DD1, the infant carrier could be used for the newborn, but what third seat would be suitable for DD2 who will be 15 months (I was intending to get a second Britax First Class, but this will not quite fit in the back with my existing Britax First Class & infant carrier).

Eeeek sorry for the long waffling post.......Anyone able to come up with a solution?

In the back of my mondeo I had 2 Britax Eclipse (the forward facing big seat for 9months-4yrs) plus a Britax rock-a-tot (baby carrying one).

Now I've got the 2 Britax Eclipse plus a Britax Highliner (booster seat with back adn head part).

I have the 2 Britax Eclipse next to each other and the other at the other side. It wouldn't fit any other way.

lol.... i did this 2 weeks ago at motehrcare.... to establish if it wa at all possible to fit 3 of any car seat in the back of my little renault clio...

eventaully we established it was not

Its doesnt matter that much... as i normally only have my 2 charges with me (and occasioanly a friend as well) and as i have no air bag the 3rd goes in the front....

BUT as the law is changing in May 06 (so any child under 10 and under 135cm and under 36kg HAS to be in a proper car seat) i wanted to know if it could be possible

NannyL - wonder if you could clarify the law here - re "Proper " car seat - is a booster seat still OK for my 5 year old?
I am having this problems at the moment with my Golf (Mark 4 model) but in the middle at the back there is only a lap belt. I think Britax Eclipse (which I have ) can fit only with a lap belt but I would like also to hear any suggestions of narrow seats. Airbag in the front, so no go, and I wouldn't sit them in the front anyway (just for me).

technically they say children can sit on a booster from £15kg...

in reality its MUCH safer to use a high baccked booster until at least 22kg...

In terms of the new law im sure a normal booster is ok for a 5 year old (even a 3 yearold over 15kg!).... just bare in mind that high backed boosters are safer and offer more protection!

We have in the back of my C-max, Britax Rock-a-tot deluxe for ds2 11 weeks, Britax Eclipse Si for dd 3, and Britax Super Cruiser for ds1 nearly 5. All were bought from my local mothercare world who were really helpful. We also have to have the Eclipse and the high back booster next to each other and the baby seat on one side. The other thing we had to consider was which way the seatbelts went as ds1 can undo his. So I made sure that the two seats where the belt buckles are next to each other were the seats that have to be undone every time IYSWIM so the high back booster and the baby seat. The toddler seat can then be left on its own on the other outer seat with no risk of anyone accidentally disinstalling it!
