hello,

i'm wondering whether anyone has any experience with or has heard anything about the bugaboo stroller (www.bugaboo.nl)....it seems a brilliant product but i can't find any reviews or similar on the net as still quite new!

maybe trusted old mumsnet can help??

thanks

I had never heard of it, but looked at the site you mentioned& remebered I had seen it somewhere. I saw a photo in a tv mag not long ago with Johnny Vegas using one.
so if mumsnetters can't help maybe a celb could!
I'm sure a letter to ITVdigital Monkey's friend would find him

Sorry, only seen it in shop & magazine., no direct experience it does look groovy. From memory the 2 main things that struck me are -
either no or uselessly tiny shopping tray which would be a big disadvanyage
the puchchair seat didn't seem to have a hood & looked very exposed.
Have you seen what the rain cover is like & whether it folds ok with rain cover attached?
Expensive

hello,

well i've actually got the bugaboo now and i must say i'm very impressed with it!
it comes with an attachable hood (which is exellent)and a raincover and a mosquito net.

my baby (3 1/2 month) is superhappy in it as opposed to my mamas and paps 03 series 3 wheeler hated it. he can face forward or backward and there is lots of different seat positions which can be changed superquick.

so far it has been an exellent buy and i would thouroughly recommend it!

it looks lovely! small compact and light - just a tad expensive though.
Anyone else with experience of one?

We bought a bugaboo frog back in April 03 for a number of reasons

· Fits into the boot of a small hatchback
· Very lightweight, I could lift and push with ease after having had an unplanned caesarean
· Narrow, fits through most shop doors and our narrow hallway
· Has a collapsible pram attachment that can be easily stored after use.
· Easy to manoeuvre, swivel wheels really help
· Can use on rough ground with big wheels

We have found it to be a great buy and although seems expensive we hope we will not need to buy an additional lightweight pushchair.

My baby is coming up to sixth months and we'll be about to swap over to the pushchair mode, so I will keep you posted as to how we get on.

The only drawbacks I have found was that

· It takes a little time to master the opening and closing, however once mastered is easy.
· It takes a little getting used to manoeuvring it up and down kerbs.
· The soft sides of the pram don't adequately protect a very young baby's head from the main frame (we resolved this by making a bespoke bumper!)
· A five-month-old baby becomes a bit agitated when they can't see out of the pram, so I have taken to switching between the pram for sleeping and the baby carrier for when they are awake.
· Accessories are expensive.

Blimey! £10 for bag clips? £70 for a footmuff? £70 for a nappy bag?????

Just a tad expensive!

(Very cute though.)

I am thinking of buying a bugaboo frog and wondered if anyone has any more comments positive or negative? My concern is that the seat only has 3 positions, 1 being flat and another very upright, and I wonder how comfy/big enough it is for an older child? Foot muff a bit expensive - has anyone got one and thinks they are worth it? One last thing, can you hang anything reasonably heavy on the handle clips?
Many thanks

I've now had the frog in the buggie mode for about 3 weeks, so can't tell you about comfort for an older child as my little one is 6 months.

The seat positions are a little limited, however the upright position allows the child to look out and the semi-reclining one is great for when they want to sleep. I haven't used the horizontal position yet as it seems a little too reclined, especially when they are small.

One bonus is that the seat positions are very easy to alter, even when the child is in the seat.

I've recently bought the foot muff. I did consider buying a cheaper one, however once I had the bugaboo version I realised that it fitted perfectly (it has a fabric pocket to attach it to the seat) and therefore doesn't slip off. It is also shaped to fit the seat so I can imagine that other foot muffs will not fit so well.

You can hang quite heavy bags on the handle using the bag clips, however I would warn not to exceed the limit recommended by bugaboo ( 4kg 8.8lb) as the pram will tip up and it gets difficult to push. It is better to put heavy items in the underseat bag.

I would suggest the bugaboo frog as a robust buggy that is great for town and will cope with uneven tracks. However if you are looking for a buggy to use on public transport that is easy for one person to collapse and carry then look elsewhere.

we've had the bugaboo for just over a year from the moment my son was born and its still now in use. its great but very expensive and i'm not sure cheaper alternatives wouldnt be just as good. also my friends all have the easy light weight maclarens for their babies from 6 months onwards and i have a heavy bugaboo. i cant really fault it except for the price.

Cloe · 28/11/2003 16:34

Ive had the bugaboo frog for 5 months now and its an absolute dream! Its not only a real head turner but its advantages seem endless....its so easy to move around, easy to fold, its great in the park or on a bumpy pavement....everyday I find another benefit, I love it. I agree that it is expensive but I know it is going to last me for at least 3 years so I will definately feel that Ive had my money's worth after that. All these lighter pushchairs are all very well but I have peace of mind in my bugaboo as I know its strong, sturdy but not THAT heavy. I have the footmuff too and its so cosey I wish they had one in my size.... I'd definately recommend a bugaboo frog to anyone.

Hi,

We just bought the bugaboo today, in red! It's gorgeous and easy to maneuver. Ever since I saw a mom in the museum who had it, I knew I wanted it....And plus, my baby's name is "Scarlet" so we just had to buy it...(another useless justification for the price...hmmmm how many more can I think of!)We live in Los Angeles, I haven't seen too many out here yet. I'm a sucker for fashion, and the functionability surpasses any Manolo Blahnik!

Mathilda · 27/02/2004 22:39

It's a great invention and - I always wanted one So I am now finally pregnant now and I can get one!!!

angelstar · 11/08/2004 17:36

I've just got the bugaboo frog and find that its really creaky, the handle bar seems loose in that I can move it a couple of cms up and down ifykwim. It seems to creak where everything is fixed together on the sides. Is this normal? I hope not as I hate noisy pushchairs .
