Please help me abandon my principles ...

I've always wanted a tumble drier, but every time I get close to buying one (choose a model, decide where it's going, etc.) my
green-ish credentials kick in, and I just can't bring myself to buy something that I view as an unnecessary luxury, and environmentally damaging.

But this morning I hung two big loads of washing out, got wet in the rain, brought them in and rinsed and spun them again in the machine, hung them out again, then brought them all in again when it started to rain again, and have now hung them inside on clothes horses ... I just can't face the prospect of constant laundry in another Cumbrian winter.

Should I abandon my principles?

I saw that there is now a 'green' tumble dryer on the market, which has an 'A' energy rating.
might make you energy gluttons feel better...?

No-one warned me that ds2 would find it even more exciting that I do, and refused to go to sleep until it's finished its load

I still love it though

lol, ds2 loves ours, he loves pressing it on and also unloading.

roisin · 07/10/2005 19:26

Forecast is wet tomorrow, so I can just do it all in the drier tonight.

I love it! [hysterical grin]

Its never ocurred to me to rewash washing after its been rained on! I leave my cloth nappies out in the rain regularly - sometimes I peg them out specially to get rained on. Makes them nice and soft again after the hard water has turned them into cardboard.

Main use of tumbler drier in my house is to entertain ds. Sometimes I do small loads of washing and tumble dry them just to keep him happy.

Perhaps I should just video it for him... Hmm, now there's an idea. I could video the washing machine and tumble drier. 20 minutes of each. Baby entertainment. Could probably sell it for a lot on ebay, what do you think? Might have to choose the contents of the wash-load carefully though.
