Little Tikes Playhouse - which one to get?

We are moving house at the end of this month and DD (3y5m) has been promised a play house for when we move in.

We have ummed and ahhed and decided definitely on getting a Little Tikes playhouse, rather than a wooden one. Also think we'd prefer a Little Tikes one as I looked at some other makes and felt the quality and sturiness generally wasn't as good.

So, next step is to ask all the MNetters for their advice.

Which Little Tikes house should we go for? And why - what makes it so good?

We got the country cottage for DD, yellow with blue roof and pink door. It's cool and stores all toys away in winter...fab!! DD plays shops throught the windows. It is a bit bigger than the basic white one and has a sink and pretend hob and plenty of room for a couple of little chairs. DD plays with it a lot when her friends are round. Got it 2nd hand from local paper for £40, there are always loads on ebay but they tend to go for more but you can get a bargain. They can be tricky to assemble and you need a fair sized car to collect them unless u have a brand new one delivered. Think I've seen them for £149 somewhere brand new.

Thanks.

DD is nearly 3.5yo so need one that is a bit bigger than the basic one I think. So yours sounds worth a good look - I will go a hunting online now!

We are more than happy to get one new anyway - probably trying to keep below £200 though, although I still am not sure whether that is the right budget or not!

We didn't buy one in the end after lots of umming and arrghing. But, I did discover that some of them are not very tall, therefor your dd would have to stoop down to go in and maybe might not be able to stand up fully in them. So check the door and roof heights.

Yes, I though about that - that's why the basic one is too small really. I know there are some taller ones though as she has played in them at play centres. Just need to find which ones they are!

The Step 2 ones are nice quality and a bit more girly I think, if a bit pricier. Have a look here for example.

They are more exensive aren't they? Never heard of them - what is the quality like?

Any more please?

Friend had one and they seem slightly better than Little Tikes with a bit more attention to detail. elc used to do some of their products and toys r us do a little. You can also get it direct here but not sure where you might find one to see in the flesh, so to speak !

My mum has a basic Little Tikes one and it is fine but think the kids would find it a bit dull to use regularly.
