Panasonic is the best, or so I've been told. my friend's got one and she makes lovely seeded bread by pre-programming it so the bread is ready by 7.30 every morning - lovely smell fills the kitchen.

monkeytrousers · 15/09/2005 09:41

our panasonic rules. works brilliantly, easy to clean, looks ok too.

laligo · 15/09/2005 10:01

it has a grain/seed tray in the top. i always make multigrain wholemeal and it's yum.

monkeytrousers · 16/09/2005 18:33

It's true, I put on over a stone thanks to my breadmaker. It has now been banished to a cupboard whilst I try and undo it's wrongdoings, or mine.

You have been warned!

antibes · 16/09/2005 19:53

panasonic came tops in the last which report - cant remember which one - think the only minor niggle was that there was no viewing window.

BusyBusyBee · 16/09/2005 19:59

panosonic SD 253 is definitely the one to buy! We bought ours due to a MN Reccomendation!!!!! They retail at £100 but we got ours online for £80 - cant remember which site though, also this was last christmas............

Cybermum · 16/09/2005 20:02

The only niggle I remember from the Which report is that the bread was so good the testers ate too much.

I like a loaf to be wider than it is tall so it looks like a real loaf of bread. I also think that a viewing window is important. My Morphy Richards cost about £50, has the right loaf shape and a viewing window, and makes great bread. I chose it mainly because it could make 3 sizes of loaves, but I find that I almost always make the med size anyway.

Carameli · 17/09/2005 11:49

another Panasonic SD-253. Its so easy to use and clean. I use it nearly every day. We do a medium loaf so its lovely to wake up in the morning to freshly baked bread.
Had mine for three years now and love it.
