A cabin bed to put over my single bed?

Is it possible? Would my existing single bed fit under some cabin bed? Our landlord provided us with this single bed and won't take it away. So we are stuck with it but don't have much space. Thanks!

Can't you dismantle it and put it in the loft/shed?

PaisleyPumpkin · 13/10/2010 22:19

How will a cabin bed over it gain you space?

ChocFudgeCake · 13/10/2010 22:20

I'm afraid not, we are using the loft as a bedroom. No shed, ha. We have been thinking for months Confused

Would you be able to put two beds at right-angles to each other? So have a high bed going in one direction and the bed you are stuck with going in the other direction with the bottom tucked under one end of the high bed?

That's a rubbish description, I'll see if I can find a picture of what I mean.

Ikea Tromso double loft bed, if you have room for a double? Single might be too narrow.

furryfungus · 13/10/2010 22:22

like this?

defineme · 13/10/2010 22:22

Our high sleeper from ikea (like a small double and very near the ceiling) fits a double sofa bed underneath. It makes ds1's room seem huge cos he has no floor space taken up by bed. We got ours off freecycle, but I don't think they're that expensive-they are silver metal.

ChocFudgeCake · 13/10/2010 22:24

Yes, my post sounds silly.
In the converted loft we have a double futon were my sons sleep. In the baby's room there is her cot and a single bed. I thought that I could fold the futon and bring the single bed to the loft and put a cabin bed on top then there is more space in the baby's room. The think is that I want the boys to have their own bed.

dd1 has a high ikea bed over dd4 toddler bed. but you could put the single bed at right angles to the high bed, and have it like a little den i guess.

some ikea beds are longer than others btw. measure the shortest gap from inside leg to inside to see if the single will fit

defineme · 13/10/2010 22:26

The ikea tromso range is what you want if you have the height in the room-would easily fit a single underneath.

ChocFudgeCake · 13/10/2010 22:28

Ahh great thanks all, you got me busy now. I'm going to look up all this beds. I hadn't thought of those angles, bran. It could work! Thanks for pic, FF. I'll have to take some measurements tomorrow as the boys are sleeping now. THe thing is that the ceiling is low because it's the loft...

if u do the angled way, you could get away with a mid-sleeper instead of a high bed.

ChocFudgeCake · 13/10/2010 22:36

Maybe a mid-sleeper would be better for a 6 year old. Don't you think? Def. warming up to the idea of the angled position Smile
