It's not impossible that they've given you the wrong bit - a few weeks ago I'd half built a wardrobe when I discovered they'd given me a wrong piece of wood with the wrong holes in etc. - I was not happy. In the end I fudged it together with the aid of a drill & nails as I'd already been back to *£$(%(%(^%ing IKEA for most of the previous Sunday replacing bits of the previous wardrobe which broke as it wasn't strong enough for itself...I wasn't going to go back yet again.
So, take the cup of tea advice, and then try again - and if it still doesn't work you'll have to take it back and rant at someone (always fun, and you won't be alone). It drives me mad the way you always have to GO there to sort out THEIR problems!
ramble, rant, grumble

well, it's been 24 hours and many cups of teas later and it still does not &()&%$££&* work. nothing a saw and a big hammer can't sort out i guess
i did think that they may have put in the wrong size boards but i bought 2 and just opened the other one and it is the same "wrong" size. i keep thinking that there is something i am not doing correctly. unfortunately, the nearest ikea to me is an hour away and don't fancy making another trip again soon.
a neighbour across the road is a builder. do you think it would be cheeky of me to go across and ask his wife if they have a tool that cuts wood (don't know what it is called but the sort of thing you see in property makeover programmes where there is a table and they cut their mdf into shapes with it)?

i feel another cup of tea coming up...........

LOL!!! actually i finally did get through somebody at the edmonton branch and asked her to go measure the size of the boards of a ready made box in the showroom and the boards i have are too big. so i will need to bring them back to exchange

oh no!!!
I think they should send someone to you with them and a screw driver to do the job!!!

csa · 09/09/2005 21:26

i think so too but alas, that's never going to happen, is it?

If you insist a lot they will. My mum and dad had a table from IKEA and it had a big scratch on it. They made IKEA come out to the house twice before it was sorted - and they insisted on a discount in the price for their inconvenience - and got it! I was amazed, but my dad was just really insistent.

mumtosomeone · 09/09/2005 21:30

well you can try!!!

csa · 09/09/2005 21:55
