DD is beginning to do colouring and puzzles, and I'd like to move off the floor as it does my back no good at all! I'd love to get a little table and chairs so that she can sit there and do things as she gets older. She's only 17 months at the moment, but very small still (just gone into 6-9 month clothes if that helps), so, whilst I know it would be a bit big for her now, I'd like something that she won't take a million years to grow into.

Anyone found a good set or a really, really cheap source for a set we can butcher to make it smaller?

I just want a bog-standard one, nothing fancy, and CERTAINLY nothing pink! Would be happy with second hand.

You coul dbuy something like that and put a pillow on the chair.
My younger DS (two) is using his older brother's highchair www.johnlewis.com/Shopping/PhotoGallery.aspx?Type=SKU&ID=230561338&ThumbID=3
I guess my DS is much taller than you DD. I think a pillow would help her or may even a booster seat.
IKEA must sell cheap sets which you can shorten. I remember looking for a set and toysrus was the best option because the IKEA is just too far from us.

But when my older DS was very little we bought him a blue travel lap tray from Blooming Marvellous which I cannot find anymore. The tray looked like http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.blooming-babies.com/Images/prod/childrens-travel-games/childrens-travel-games.jpg&imgrefurl=www.blooming-babies.com/childrens-travel-games.html&usg=__XCvU2rlEGAuljRhDl22Jzjjf4nI=&h=225&w=225&sz=9&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=1ci8HJ-1ZeeShM:&tbnh=129&tbnw=129&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dtravelling%2Blap%2Btray%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1024%26bih%3D545%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=801&vpy=272&dur=200&hovh=180&hovw=180&tx=134&ty=171&ei=6J6tTL6NAZO7jAev5uzYBA&oei=6J6tTL6NAZO7jAev5uzYBA&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=9&ved=1t:429,r:8,s:0

He used to play with it while sitting on the sofa or on the floor.

Here is another website which sells lap trays gigishouseparties.com/party_favors__gifts

Hope that helps.

Ikea.

Or a highchair with a nice big tray? Or highchair that goes up to the dining table?

My DS has only just stopped sitting in his highchair in the kitchen while I'm cooking, and he's nearly 4. It was very convenient for him to sit there and "help" or do some drawing.

The Ikea antilop highchair is great and about £12.
