Dungarees for 6 yr old boy?

I've given up being able to find trousers that will stay up on skinny no-hips ds2. He just doesn't care, and will often carry on playing
(in public!) with his trousers round his knees

Anyway, I've seen some dungarees for girls around recently. Has anyone seen any for boys?

argh... there was another thread on this a while ago...
there is an online shop called jak-o or something that sells them

roisin · 10/09/2005 08:23

Thanks Starlover. There is one pair on Jako-o.
Has anyone else seen any around anywhere? Or shall I just order these?

what about braces?
Easier to take off for the loo etc!

serah · 10/09/2005 09:00

these

Soooo cheap!! And good on the postage too. I did a quick search on "dungarees 6" on Ebay and these were the only sensible thing that came up. There are loads of "age 6" but looking at the pictures, they are 6 months - either that or their children wore clothes like marquee covers.

You might get even more if you look under the boys age 6 category as well.

frannyf · 10/09/2005 09:15

This site does custom made clothes for children. Their dungarees are only advertised up to age 4 but I know from experience that if you email with a special request they can usually oblige.

NannyL · 10/09/2005 10:07

As far as i know baby gap only goes up to age 5...

maybe worth a check tho...

sorry if not much help

roisin · 10/09/2005 11:08

Thank you! Serah I didn't even think of looking on Ebay I've put in a bid on that item.

FrannyF - thank you too. I have emailed Wee Notions to see if they have anything suitable they can do for me.

roisin, those oshkosh probably won't be big enough for ds2 - they are 5-6 and and oshkosh are not a big brand (iyswim) - I would email the seller and ask for leg length before you commit etc.

Sleepyjess ordered the cheap red and blue jako-o ones for her DS2, she should have them by now, maybe she'll see this and tell you what they're like!

Janh · 10/09/2005 11:20

These are 7-8, you can have the straps really short and roll up the legs too if you need to - they look very cute like that. (Not oshkosh though)

Oooh - these oshkosh could be a bargain because the seller has put osh bosh and nobody will find them on a search! (DS2 won a lovely Abercrombie and Fitch polo because the seller put Abrecombie and Fish!)

roisin · 10/09/2005 11:22

Thanks Jan - the Jako cheap red/blue ones don't go up to ds2's size. They do some denim ones but they're nearly £30 plus postage.
I'm off to check out your ebay links now.
Thanks, Roisin

Oh, sorry, roisin, I didn't remember that, I thought they had all the sizes, what a shame.

It is defo worth paying more for oshkosh btw - they have the best designed strap adjusters in the world and are really really tough (I had some which were worn by 5 or 6 children altogether). Also v comfortable. (Also dead cool!)

roisin · 10/09/2005 11:33

I agree: I've never bought Oshkosh new, but had loads second hand! Last month y sil was admiring a shorts/Tshirt set ds2 was wearing, and I realised ds1 had virtually lived in it for 2 years, then ds2 has worn it for 3 yrs ... and it still looks great!

Boots, the chemist, were selling Osk Kosh dungarees for 14pounds recently. They are just plain denim, unisex, I got some for Lotbags.

roisin · 10/09/2005 11:43

Thanks Thomcat - I've just checked and they've got some online; gorgeous hickory striped here for £16 But they only go up to age 6, which probably isn't quite big enough.

Oh what a shame.
Have you tried H&M?

zippitippitoes · 10/09/2005 11:46

Oshkosh dungarees don't look good on grown ups though, I had a tutor at college who wore them and he looked like Andy Pandy (late nineties)

roisin · 10/09/2005 11:48

Jan - I'm not comfortable about that ebay seller - she's got a pair of pink "osh bosh" dungarees for sale, and sold another pair in the past too. It doesn't feel right to me somehow, so I think I'll steer clear.

Oops - must go! Ds1 is dressed up as a Roman Centurion and has built a ballista in the living room, and is using fruit as the ammunition

OP posts:
roisin · 16/09/2005 02:28

Thanks again - sorted! Two pairs from Ebay!

DS2 thinks they're great as Ivy the Terrible (from the Beano) wears dungarees
