is it just me or does anyone else find the kids clothes in asda an odd shape?. i've bought quite a few things for dd, 3 & 3/4, and its always far to big round the waist and needs altering. my dc are not small/skinny, just average!

Yep their stuff does tend to come up big i think.

Dd2 will be 6 in december and still fits in their 4-5 stuff.

BethAndHerBrood · 08/09/2005 19:37

How peculiar, i think the opposite!

DD was 6 in august, and has 9-10 clothes from asda!!

dropinthe · 08/09/2005 19:39

The legs are always far too long for the boys unless they were born mini giants!

serenity · 08/09/2005 19:40

Opposite here too! Asda school trousers were the only ones that didn't fall off of DS2.

NannyL · 08/09/2005 22:15

i find ASDA tops on the small size, bottoms seem to have very long legs

Hattie05 · 08/09/2005 22:16

Agree with nannyl and also the waists are always way to big for my dd who is certainly not skinny around the middle

roisin · 08/09/2005 22:19

I always found Tesco trousers the ones with the huge waists. Asda were marginally better. Though I must admit nothing comes close to staying up on skinny ds2 (6) even with a belt.

Nevada · 08/09/2005 22:19

I find the clothes shrink unless I wash them a wash 'lower' than what they say.

Vaunda · 08/09/2005 22:24

Nutcracker thats soooooooooooo not fair my DS is 7 and even at asda i have to buy 10-11 yr olds clothes. HUMPH thats it i am sulking BIG BIG time. why have i got a big boy????? waillllllllll wailllllllllllll sobbbbbbbbbbbbbbb sobbbbbbbbbbbbb

MrsSpoon · 08/09/2005 22:28

I hardly ever buy my DSs anything from ASDA. DS1 had some trousers from there when he was young and I had to majorly alter the waists (he is v skinny), recently I bought him a cheap pair of shorts for football classes during the summer and the poor soul ran round the football hall holding onto the shorts the whole time as they kept falling down.

I cannot be gassed altering waists and would rather pay an extra couple of quid for something that fits.

DD tried on lots of supermarket clothes this summer before we went on holiday. An age 4-5 fits her perfectly round the waist. Only prob is she's 8yo so they are a bit on the short side!

She's not skinny, just slim. Slim size Gap jeans, iyswim.

jodee · 08/09/2005 22:55

Agreeing with roisin here (think I always seem to agree with you!).

Skribble · 08/09/2005 23:01

Asda trousers were ridiculous fit on DS, went to Tesco and got pack of 2 fit great and even have elastic inside (hidden) to adjust them great as DS is tall and skinny.

gingernut · 08/09/2005 23:37

I too find Tesco massive on the waist for ds1 (average to slim but not skinny), Asda a bit better but the few Asda clothes I have bought (don't often get to an Asda) have been disappointing wrt quality (have faded really badly, or worn out). Tesco quality better IMO, but tend to stick to buying tops there and get trousers in Next (or H&M/pumpkin patch adjustable waist ones) because they don't fall down.

Re belts, bought some Boden () snake belts in the sale which keep his roomy trousers up nicely.
