Power Rangers drinking bottle - advice please!

Dh has just come back from Tesco after my request for him to get ds1 a drinking bottle in which to take water to school - he's just started reception.

The only one they had left was a power rangers one - dh asks me to emphasise to you all that it was in the 'back to school' range but I'm not happy with it because the cartoon images on it have the power rangers holding up big samurai type swords.

Appropriate or no for a reception child?

At ds school they specified 'plain water bottle'. My ds loves power rangers and has the stuff at home but don't think i would send it in to school.

tbh I don't think that power rangers will be the worst drinking bottle on show, and don't really think it will turn ds into a subversive!

Not really worth worrying about.
(there will be plenty of other things tho!!)

clary · 07/09/2005 22:54

oh gosh I wdn't worry about it. If it gets him drinking water that's the main thing - will it?
dd's has a kitten with lots of roses - not the same thing I know but I was trying to steer clear of all that pink girlie stuff but just lately seem to have gievn way big time.
As unicorn says, plenty of other things to worry about!

Skate · 07/09/2005 22:56

Really?? But he's small and sweet and innocent and knows nothing about power rangers - these ones are swindling swords!! (if that's the right way to say it!)

Ive only got a dd of 18 mnths and I bought her a PR drinking bottle (cos she didnt want the barbie one) and it lasted 2 mins before getting broken so if its the kind you get in Woolworths I wouldnt worry too much about keeping it. The best drinking bottles IMO are to buy a bottle of water and just keep filling it up . simple and cheap.

unicorn · 07/09/2005 22:57

Skate.. he will know about all these things and more soon enough.

School, pah!

Nooooooo! Not my baby!!

Give it to him until you can get him another one, then "lose" this one

Skate · 07/09/2005 23:02

OK!

Dh keeps saying 'but it was only £1.98' - er, so? It's EVIL!!!

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 07/09/2005 23:04

At £1.98, it won't matter if it gets lost then, will it?

clary · 07/09/2005 23:09

oh sorry, thought you meant he was really keen on power rangers and therefore would love this bottle.
If not then my eg of dd and the kitten is a bit wide of the mark.
Well, as hunker says, why not lose it asap...

Willow2 · 07/09/2005 23:45

Absolutely - he will be considered the coolest reception kid on the block. DS was in reception last year - boys went through power rangers, lego knights and, last but not least, Star Wars. They are all still on the latter. It may offend our pc parenting sensibilities, but in my experience you can't fight it!

SoupDragon · 08/09/2005 09:18

It's not evil, it's a blimmin water bottle.

If truth be told, Power Rangers are also camper than Christmas.

Skate · 08/09/2005 10:11
