Not together. obviously.

just wondering if slow cookers are any good and what they can do that the oven set on auto start can't...

and sorely tempted to buy a kindle. anyone got one and want to guide me...

so just a plea for advice!

Haven't got a proper Kindle but recently installed a kindle app on my phone, and have been enjoying reading some of the free classics you can download - it's good having Jane Austen and Dickens in your pocket to fill in a few minutes while waiting for DCs, on a train etc. But I can't see when I'd use a full-size one rather than an actual book - just as big and heavy as a real book to carry around. Maybe for plane journeys?

i spend almost two hours a day on tube when i'm at work so that's when i use it i think. agree, otherwise, planes, on holiday - don't do either enough to justify!

I'm a Kindler!! (No slow cooker, I use the oven on a timer instead) I really love mine because I tend to enjoy books that are either too big to lug about in my handbag or I read everything too quickly and find myself out of reading material with time to kill. Did look into other formats e.g. Sony and Ipad but thought the Sony was too expensive and the Ipad is a 'proper computer'. I have the 3G because I travel a lot and am not always within shouting distance of a WIFI - not necessary for everyone. Books download incredibly fast either way. I would recommend getting a case with a light, however. It really enhances the experience.

Biggest downside is that some surprisingly common titles aren't available yet. Am hoping that irons itself out as e-books become more the norm

yes, i keep putting off a couple of big books cos they're just too big. they won't look intimidating on a kindle and what bliss to be able to whip it out in playground, softplay, tube etc.

do you use it for newspapers and periodicals too? i notice no guardian on kindle store which is a bit of a bore. the independent is tooo dull. still, anythings got to be better than the metro!

I've just got a kindle and love it. Will be fab for holiday as I won't need to take 10 books away with me for a week.

slow cooker's rock :-) my crockpot has a timer so it turns itself off when done. Chuck your ingredients in and come home to a beautifully cooked dinner. Much cheaper to run than putting the oven on!

I don't use it for newspapers & periodicals mostly because I don't buy a newspaper on a regular basis IRL. I also don't use the experimental features which, they freely admit, are just that... experimental. I like the onboard dictionary feature, though. Came across two words I'd never seen before in 'Life of Pi' recently and it was good not to have to hunt about for a dictionary!

sounds great. have my heart set on one!
