Tea set for a boy??

NiaWyn · 25/09/2010 15:56

DS will be 3 next week and one of his fave things at the moment is to "make Mummy a cup of coffee".

Does anyone know of a tea set I could buy for his birthday that isn't frilly and a bit girly? I don't mind, but his father isn't too keen.

Thanks.

here

You could just give him the blue and yellow ones if it really bothers you?

teapots pink though.

I'd buy my son that.

DS2 loves this one

ikea do a plain white one it seems

M&S had a good one that we got last Christmas, it was in a clear teapot but the set was red, green, yellow and blue. Totally gender neutral. £10 for the set. DD1 loves hers.

Mine loved theirs and we got them from Early Learning and ToysRUs.

Your dh is an sexist idiot.

BudaisintheZONE · 25/09/2010 16:06

DS had one that was orange, yellow and green and came in a back pack. He loved it. My DH was a bit perturbed at first till I reminded him that DS saw HIM cooking far more than he did me!

I saw a lovely paddington bear tea set in boots today, don't know how much it costs though.

inthesticks · 25/09/2010 16:07

When DS1 was 3 his favourite present of all time was a toy kitchen.Along with cups, plates and plastic food.

He's 14 now. 6'2" and snuggled on the sofa with his GF. Ignore your DH. A teaset will not make him gay.

thanks all for suggestions so quickly. Much appreciated.

pinkbasket: agree with you on the idiot comment. but he's not dh. We never married and no longer together.

TotorosOcarina: as I said, it doesn't bother me but would really rather not piss my ex off over something as simple as a tea set or for any suggestion from said ex that playing with a tea set is a bit girlie for a boy. It's all role play as far as I see it and if ds enjoys it, that's good enough for me.

Do not let your ex dictate what your child can play with in your home. It isn't like you are giving him a loaded gun.

onimolap · 25/09/2010 16:16

John Lewis do a paint your own kit which he might like.

spiritmum · 25/09/2010 16:17

Tea sets are fab. Used to keep my ds happy fro ages. Dds as well.

Tell ds's dad that he'll be much more successful with the girls if he knows how to make them a cuppa.

feedthegoat · 25/09/2010 16:22

Ds had the elc one linked to earlier.
