a bug zapper, one of those light thingys, as my place is a haven for moths and daddy long legs,

also a garden compost bin, one i can put my garden waste in and turn into something useful, as i cannot afford £5 for 5 bags from the council for garden waste.

bugzapper

vickitiredmum · 05/09/2005 18:02

Those bug zappers can attract Daddylong legs and moths and dont necessarily do a good job of zapping them once they are there. Plus when they zap the body explodes sending fly body parts all over the place - not so good for kitchens! Have you thought about fly screens instead? They can be quite cheap and you can have your windows/doors open still. Most councils these days provide compost bins for free as it is recycling.

Maybe another MNetter in a close by local authority can obtain one for you and you can collect (dont know how legal that is!) or see if local warehouse has any spare pallets you can grab and make one (if you are DIY minded)

how big is your garden misdee? at the back of my garden we just have two big piles, separated by old oven shelves. covered with some of the old carpet liner. works. and its behind the shed, so cant really see it all the time.
otherwise, im sure an old bin would work just as well.

mumtosomeone · 05/09/2005 22:59

any of these zappers what you were looking for?

misdee · 05/09/2005 23:00

am tempted by the tennis racket one, could be fun. would still be sweeping dead bugs up each morning tho.
