My accessorize shoes practically crippled me!

I just need to know where I stand really, or if anyone has had a similar problem. I bought some posh flip flop type shoes from accessorize yesterday to wear out that night, but walking out of my flat I fell down the carpeted steps because the shoes have no grip whatsoever on the bottom. I took them back today, and they would not give me a refund or exchange because 'they're meant to be like that'?! Surely if you spend £25 on a pair of shoes its reasonable to expect that you can walk in them? Should I go back tomorrow and DEMAND my money back?

hmm not sure, because you could see when you bouight them that they had no grip.

a lto of posh mens shoes are smooth leather on the bottom, so i don't think that that in itself is a problem... they roughen up when worn outside..

get a brillo pad or a knife and score the bottom of them to get some grip

You've got no chance. They will say you should have walked around in the shop to see if you could walk in them, and if you did, then why couldn't you walk in them.

Sorry. My mate is the manager in a shoe shop and I know she wouldn't give you a refund.

agree with the fish, you haven't a leg to stand on imo. Surely posh flip flops aren't supposed to have whacking great grips on them?

There was a programme on the TV where the woman was getting married and her wedding shoes were slippy so she glued velcro to the bottom it was SOOOOOO funny

No - as nailpolish says, the thing to do with smooth leather soles is score them with a sharp knife until they are worn in enough not to be slippy.
