I'm very excited, I've just ordered a catalogue.
I know this has been discussed before but has anyone discovered any 'can't-live-without' items from this shop? I can remember the e-cloth being mentioned. Anything else? Are the bread bags any good?

floppy plastic flower for getting the lids off jars, very tacky looking but essential.

And the washing up brushes with blue bristles last 10 times as long as ordinary ones.

Doves Quick Yeast, £1 for a bag that lasts for ages. Most of the other stuff I can get at a local John Lewis or live without...some of the things they have - really!

1/4 pint pudding pots. Fantastic for storing baby food to carry around with you. You get a decent amount in. They go in the freezer, microwave. Wonderful!

Another vote for clippets
and sticky stuff remover
and that green spongy stuff for bottom of fruit and veg drawer
and those tiny pots for baby food
their keep fresh veg bags
yummy liquorice (really special)

i think this list could go on and on!

marthamoo · 04/09/2005 11:25

I like the black acrylic spoons - have thrown all my wooden ones out.

marthamoo · 04/09/2005 11:25

And my potato ricer.

marthamoo · 04/09/2005 11:26

And I love my washing basket!

jalopy · 04/09/2005 11:33

The sandwich toaster bags are FABULOUS. Love them.

Enid · 04/09/2005 11:44

dd1 is addicted to those Munchy seeds

although she might as well be eating gold as they are so expensive

The burger maker is ace, as is their stacking steamer saucepan thing (much better than an electric steamer).

I couldn't get the hang of the burger maker at all GA, I tried it once but it's now gathering dust in the cupboard.

My most useful Lakeland item is the fat-catcher for grilling sausages without the smoke alarm going off.

Littlefish · 04/09/2005 12:51

I love the fact that they sell 3 different sizes of plastic storage boxes which all fit the same size lid. It's just the height of the box which changes if you see what I mean. It means I don't end up with loads of lids without boxes or boxes without lids.

Littlefish · 04/09/2005 12:52

Hausfrau - have you tried "Astonish" paste. It looks a bit like thick, scratchy toothpaste. I use it on burnt on pans, roasting tins, my halogen hob, the taps etc. and they all come up brilliantly. I think Lakeland sell it. It comes in a blue tub with a lid.

roisin · 04/09/2005 13:21

Hausfrau - what is your roasting tin made of. This weekend I've been cleaning my oven shelves with this stuff which is great. It's like a jelly consistency and you paint it on with a brush provided then leave it to work for up to 3 hrs. It isn't that horrid acrid smelling stuff.

It works fantastically on even the most burnt on gunk, and requires very little elbow grease.

You can use it on oven, grill, barbecue and pans. But not on aluminium, brass, copper, anodised, teflon coated or painter materials.

So do those sandwich toaster bags really work?

I have been tempted to buy them as both DDs love toasties but I am too lazy to bother with the mess of the Breville.
