Shoe sizing - quick!!!

DH has just bought DD a new pair of shoes from Clarks size 6.5F. They feel far too wide and last time she got shoes from there the assistant said she was actually an £ but the type of shoe she got meant that I could just tighten them up more. In hindsight I wasn't satisfied with this but it was too late. DH is about to go and take them back but just want to get facts right. Is an E fitting narrower than an F fitting?

Yes, E fitting is narrower than an F.

Some styles are different therefore you can get away with different widths and sometimes half sizes.

Forgot to add

You know best, if you feel they're too wide for your dd your better taking them back now rather than waiting.

Ta. Poor DH - he was only trying to do his best but he wasn't to know and I guess going to Clarks you expect them to be right.

Also forgot to add - she's already walked back down the road in them.

Awww. Not his fault these things do happen.

I was a manager for Clarks before I had dd and trust me, I have seen some baaad fittings while I worked there!

As long as they are clean underneath theere shouldn't be a problem taking them back.

Grr - it makes me mad that we're always being told how important it is to have the right fitting shoes for kids and to get them where they will be sized correctly but then they just give you the incorrect size anyway coz they don't have the right fitting and say it's OK, just pull the velcro a bit tighter. Same goes with bras in M&S but that's another story.

Grrrrrr again!

If they don't fit you can take them back even if they've been worn outside. If Clarks say they fit and then they are either too tight or too loose it is down to them. I took a pair back that were causeing re marks on my dd feet - far too tight she was complaining they hurt- and they changed them.
