Low height stair gate

I am looking for a stair gate for the bottom of the stairs at granny's house. The post of the stairs is on the third step, so there's nowhere further down to attach a gate. As it is a bit higher up than normal, it means that a standard height gate is too tall. Max height we can fit is 68 cm, and all the ones I can find are 75 cm, which is too tall. Ideally we'd like a pressure-fitted one so we don't have to screw into the stairs. Does anybody know of any stair gates that would fit?

Thanks! Wink

You wont find one as eu standards mean they have to be that high. Guessing it won't fit because of the hand rail. We could't put one on the bottom of our stairs because it would'n't of opened because of the hand rail so I used a babyden put in a corner of a room. Depends how much time you spend there and if your child is there without you a lot.

You could use a folded up travel cot across the stairs. which will be enough to stop you child getting up before you can get there. Are there doors you can shut to stop the stairs being accessible or a stair gate on a door way. I can remember spending a lot of time worry about the stairs at my house and in the end my children didn't bother with them even when they weren't in the den. Other people child did and still do so I have a travel gate which wouldn't have worked for every day but works when I have people round. S

Thanks for the advice - I didn't realise there were EU rules about the height of stair gates, but it makes sense. I'm more worried about the top of the stairs to be honest, and I think a standard height one will fit there so we should be ok keeping an eagle eye out to prevent her from climbing up the stairs. She does make an attempt every now and again, and the worry is that she is good at going up but can't come down again. I really don't want her to fall down, but equally don't want to have to put loads of barriers up so that nobody else can get up the stairs either! I think we'll play it by ear and make sure she doesn't get access to the bottom of the stairs too often!!
