My shower seems be getting increasingly mouldy and so far I haven't been able to find anything that will get rid of the mould.

Any suggestions?

It's around where the sealant is and up the door where it is plastic.

Mould and mildew remover (there are a few brands, with the bathroom sprays in the supermarket usually) will shift stains on grout and door, but if it's in the silicone sealant you can't do anything about it.

It's a chlorine bleach spray and works very well but it's strong so don't inhale it.

Bleach is cheap, and does the job well.

We have the same problem and my mum has just told me that Cillit Bang is the best stuff ever for getting mildew out of showers, so I'm off to buy that. Will let you know how successful it is

bleach is the only thing that really works for our grout and ceiling (artex).

Do be careful if you try several types of cleaners as some react together to give off chlorine gas - very nasty!

I had this problem when I moved into our new place, I used bleach neat, did the job in about 20 secs, I would most impressed!

bleach, bleach and bleach

Vornsta · 30/08/2005 23:31

women's environmental network recommend salt and lemon juice combo - it does work and is eco friendly!

Hattie05 · 30/08/2005 23:32

Bleach! and bleach! and bleach!

Whatever you use dont scrub too hare, you will end up with a leak.

mould grows into the sealant and plastic, that is why it is so hard to get off. If bleach fails, then resealing is only option I think.

hellsbells4 · 31/08/2005 23:48

I bought some stuff in Lakeland that dissolved the mould on my bathroom ceiling instantly.

SueW · 01/09/2005 05:39

Don't forget to air it as much as possible.

Our bathroom is fine but our shower cubicle gets disgusting if people (DH) shut the door after they've finished rather than leaving it open and allowing the cubicle to air dry. South facing bathroom - gets very hot all year with the slightest amount of sun. Heat plus damp = filthy black mould

charellie · 01/09/2005 07:46

Thanks. I think I'll try the bleach. Never even thought about that

mildew cleaner!!!
or jml magic eraser..fantastic thing!

Vornsta · 01/09/2005 14:14

sorry giraffeski, haven't tried it on sealant - just on shower mat so far, but if it grows in it sounds unlikely that it would work

HunkerTrollMunker · 02/09/2005 21:38

MTS- not on sealant thoguh.

Sorry, think you'll have to replace it!
