DON'T DO IT CODDY!
When we came back from hols I dumped the suitcases on top of the wardrobe and was rewarded with a 'twang twang' sound, which reminded me where I'd put the electric guitar when I'd lost patience with it (after about 20 seconds!) And just in case you're wondering it has been up there for several months, and no I haven't got it down!

better to get an actual small guitar from a music shop than a toy one. the sound is niocer and the strings not as harsh ion little fingers.

DP is musician and hates the idea of toy guitars

Is it the one that plays tunes too? Or the one with the rock-star mic stand and glasses. DD has ELC one, but has her eye on the Wiggles one - it wiggles as you play!! (Highly irritating)

He will soon get bored. DD took hers down the lane when we walked the dog. PMSL, she was like a travelling minstrel playing various tunes and entertaining the neighbours.

Don't want to alarm you, but...my nephew, now 11 is on his 3rd real (ie £150 ish) electric guitar. He has played since 5, is very good and is in rock band at school. Brother taught him to play 'Smoke on the Water' when he was 5.

Schmozer · 05/09/2005 14:50

My DH teaches guitar at home. I sometimes have to listen to 'Smoke on the Water' for four hours a day. It's a lot less painful than 'Greensleeves'...

gingerbear · 05/09/2005 15:07

didn't know you could play 'Greensleeves' on electric guitar! Thoughts of medieval minstrel wearing Deep Purple stylee clothing with heavy rock long shaggy hair, headbanging to Greensleeves lol!

Schmozer · 05/09/2005 15:16

I love that image! I wonder if you can actually headbang that slowly though. Have just tried - it's v difficult. Would have to speed Greensleeves up.

DH teaches electric and acoustic, so annoying tune of the week varies accordingly. The last few weeks his students have been mostly murdering seventies rock riffs (Whole Lotta Love, Sunshine of Your Love etc). Feels like I'm living in Timewarp Towers.

gingerbear · 05/09/2005 15:18

tee hee. Will have to try putting rock guitar riff on Greensleeves on Garageband and test it!
You not a 70's rock chick then??

Schmozer · 05/09/2005 15:30

It has been known, but anything grates when you hear it all day long. And I do prefer to hear it played properly - the correct notes in the right order and in time - this is rare with DH's students (not that he's not a great teacher, of course!). DS and I like dancing to Scissor Sisters at the moment which drowns it out nicely!
