REcently got one and really impressed. So easy to fit and recline. DD loves it and DS almost 5 can still fit in it so very roomy. We used to have a britax in the past and found that one much more fiddly to fit (the plastic was really sharp at the back when you pushed your arm through) and the straps used to get tangled up. No problems like that with the maxi cosi - we have quite a dark fabric but it does look smart.

Found the cheapest place to be www.kiddicare.com (approx £85) and they do the ziggy version which is a zebra print if you want something more funky! We've just got this for the new baby version as was so impressed with the priori. They also do a bright blue version although its slightly more expensive.

They have got a Britax Freeway in Halfords at the moment for 69.99 and these are very good. (good price too at the mo)

We've also got a Britax Renaissance, which is excellent - very secure, comfy. Doesn't have the clips to hold the straps out of the way when you put baby in though, so I end up fishing under dd's bum. Just ordered a Maxi Cosi Priori (from Kiddicare.com) in the funky zebra fabric for dh's new car (coz I like the design, and it gets top marks from other Mumsnetters!)

Yes - am sorry have never done this multiple thing this badly before - was taking ages to store the message and then when I looked there were bloody hundreds of them - my Renaissance is great though!!

We've got Britax Eclipses for both kids, which I think are great.
I also discovered Kiddicare website for buying the 2nd one. Got it for £65 (£90 in shops). It's rather bright colours - obviously a colourway that didn't sell very well. But I don't care - still does it's job!

We have the Britax isofix which is supposed to be very very safe. The isofix system is not on every car so you need to check first - I know that VW, Chrysler, BMW, Audi all have it and others are starting to introduce it. Basically the seat ends up being fixed securely to the chassis rather than being secured by a seat belt.

I spoke to a road saftey officer at Enfield council before getting ds's carseat, and he basically said he would only recomend a different make if none of the Britax seats fitted the car.

We have the maxi cosi XP and ds and I love it. Easy to recline, comfy and easy to fit. Only down side is it's really difficult to adjust the shoulder straps as your child grows. Took me at least 40 minutes and lots of swearing and I'm usually very good at this sort of thing! Apparantly they do a newer model that's about £20 more expensive but the straps adjust automatically. Worth it I say!

The Maxi Cosi Priori XP came out as the Which? Best Buy.

We've had it (or previous model? - not sure) for the past 18 months and love it - although like Northerner, cursed blue murder when I had to change the height of the shoulder straps. Apart from that, it's deady easy to fit in the car (and therefore to change between cars too) and to recline. It's quite heavy/bulky though, when swapping between cars.

Another vote for the Britax. Expensive too though.

Make sure you ring the company that makes the seats and ask them whether the seat actually goes into your car properly. (I know I am a bore but just humour me on this!!)

If you buy the Maxi Cosi Priori XP, try "nurserygoods.com". The RRP on this one is £120 and they are doing it for £105. (Cheapest I found it on the net). Arrived within 2 days and 9 month dd loves it.

I'm looking at getting a Maxi cosi priori xp too. Halfords are doing them for £100 in their sale - anyone beat that? It was the best rated for safety by Which, who crash tested various seats. Some came out very, very badly for this age group (9 months to four years) - almost all the up to a year car seats came out average for safety. If you want to check out the article, all libraries stock Which magazine.

We recently bought ds a Britax Eclipse from Babymart.com (i think) It was 69.99. The fabric is a bit dull but nice pattern (charcoal squares). It's a really good seat though, reclines whilst baby is in it unlike alot of others. Seems very comfy too.
