Any recommendations?

JanH - any idea what Which? recommends??

Need to get ds1 into a booster seat now as ds3 needs his forward facing one. I want one that has a back and the head protector rather than just a cushion.

Need a narrow one as have 2 Britax Eclipses in the back too!

Maxi Cosi Rodi

Got this for DS after checking on Mumsnet which was the best. Think this had the best Which write-up .. and its pretty good

daisy1999 · 28/08/2005 15:50

nanny l what was the problem with the graco?

NannyL · 28/08/2005 16:06

they said it generally offered poor protection in a crash! the others were much better!

NannyL · 28/08/2005 16:11

also the britax cruiser plus did poorly

Ok, car seats to be avoided from 15kg
Storchenmuhle Starlight SP
Graco Junior plse
mama and papas passaggio

Graco and M and P (scored 2nd to worst mark available for front crash and over all safety!)

Brirtax cryiser plus (from 9 - 25kg) also did poorly and in car seats to be avpided

They recommend:
Concord Lift protect 72%
Concord Lift evo 71%
Maxi Cosi Rodi XPB 71%
Britax Highliner 71%
abd Britax kid 68%

(all of wish got 2nd to top mark for 'overall saftey)

Gillian76 · 28/08/2005 16:12

Oh god, we have the Graco

Review where?

NannyL · 28/08/2005 16:13

the which magazine, Junne 2005!

they do an annual review in June every year

daisy1999 · 28/08/2005 16:14

I'm confused, with a high back booster is the booster not just putting the child in the correct position for the seatbelt? Does anyone know how one can be more or less safe than another?

Gillian76 · 28/08/2005 16:15

I thought that too, daisy. Raises the child up and keeps the seatbelt at shoulder height?

Gobbledigook · 28/08/2005 16:16

The ones with backs on generally have 'wings' that come around the head area to protect it in the event of an impact.

Thanks NannyL - I'll try and find the Kid I think

in the which magazien they hace loads of different catagories that they use to evaluate the seats...

then they do their own scores giving different weightings to different things typically safety 1st, aesthitcs last!

They do have a 'score' fro belt routing, and one of the seats that scored really poorly still did very well for belt routing.... so 'just having the belt in the exact place' does NOT seem to mean the seat is safe IUSWIM

NannyL · 28/08/2005 16:20

please excuse my poor typing everone

Gillian76 · 28/08/2005 16:20

Oh dear...

Gillian76 · 28/08/2005 16:25

Does anyone know, is there a Mumsnet discount at Kiddicare?
