Hi all

For those of you that use a baby sling/ carrier, which do you have and would you recommend it?

I'm loking for something

a) suitable for newborns
b) able to let me walk two dogs with a bairn in tow
c) that will encourage skin to skin/ good breastfeeding posture if at all possible
d) that doesn't weigh a tonne

Any ideas?

Confused i got a baba sling from a friend when i had ds and liked it and then when he was older i moved onto a ergo that i had from childminding. i liked both of them.

we got a babybjorn. We started out with a babasling but hated it it absolutely murdered my back and my DH who is 6'1 and has a rugby physique could use it all despite them saying it works for all sizes.

Switched to a babybjorn and haven't looked back. would thoroughly recommend them. I regularly walk two excitable jack russells with DD in the babybjorn, also did the grocery shopping when DD was too little for the trolley seat. You can use them from birth so long as LO is over 8 lbs.

didn't try breastfeeding in it though so couldn't comment on that though i am told it is possible.

i've got a wilkinet, which i love, as i've had back pain in the past, but this is extremely comfortable.
however, i couldn't find a way of breastfeeding with it, so will be watching with interest to see what people say (i was going to post anyway to ask this)
there is a whole topic about slings, so maybe try posting there, too?

A wrap sling such as a Kari Me or a Moby would be my recommendation. They take a bit of practice but they're much more supportive to little babies than a Tomy or Baby Bjorn which will suspend them by their little crotch and won't hold them so close to you. Having them close makes the weight easier for you to carry and the width of the straps spreads the weight anyway. And they fit anyone :)
