Would you expect party bag at 2yr bday?

This whole birthday thing is costing me a fortune! Have ordered the plastic gift cups that they can keep (65p) & was just going to fill it with cake, marshmallows & perhaps some stickers. Am I being tight? At the last party there were all sorts of goodies in the bag-most of which she couldn't really play with (& I ate the flake & dairy milk-shhh!)

cake and stickers is fine.

Little boxes of raisins are fab and healthy.

I don't expect a party bag at a party. I think the cups and cake etc sounds great, much better than all that unwanted tatt!

hercules · 22/08/2005 21:45

I wouldnt expect anything.

mmmmchocolate · 22/08/2005 21:46

Sorry to gate crash. What can i put in a first birthday party bag?

Hulababy · 22/08/2005 21:47

TBH your cup idea wounds far better than a party bag.

MarsLady · 22/08/2005 21:48

That's better than I would do. Don't feel any pressure to do any more!

Mytwopenceworth · 22/08/2005 21:49

Whatever happened to the guests bringing the presents? Nowadays it seems like half the kids show up to a party without a gift for the birthday boy/girl, and they all expect to go home with pressies and a mountain of sweets!!

Mum2girls · 22/08/2005 21:49

Coj - thats absolutely fine.

WestCountryLass · 22/08/2005 21:54

mmmmmmchocolate, for my kids first birthdays I decorated the party room with helium balloons which were tied to bottles of bubbles, this is what the party guests had instead of a party bag as well as a slice of cake. If you wnated to give a party bag, you could put boxes of raisins, organic cereal bars, and small toy, like a bath toy or similar.

Sounds fine to me. I kept ds's birthday (2) pretty low key. I don't want to start doing huge extravagant parties every year.

aloha · 22/08/2005 22:11

No, I wouldn't. Your cup sounds more than generous.
Two year olds don't know about party bags - or shouldn't.

Love the cup idea.

We had a children's party recently and had a bowl of treatsize sweets and small boxes of raisins mixed together and I was really surprised how many children chose a box of raisins over sweets/chocolate when they were offered their choice from the bowl (they were offered as token prizes for games etc).

I hate party bags!!
But Ikea do cheap plates and cups and knife and forks..could use them at party then take them home..thats what i am going to do at Ds's!!!
Maybe add some crayons or something!!
