Do ankle bracelets still have sexual connotations for younger people today?

Back in the 80s wearing an ankle bracelet showed you were up for sex or open for men to approach you, is it still a thing now with the younger generation?

Not heard of the ankle bracelet thing, but was told that in a group of women wearing bunny ears (usually hen do). That the ones with one ear bent down are single or open to be approached. This was in Glasgow.

Seriously? What?
Half a dozen pineapples are going to be pretty conspicuous, but unless you're wandering from aisle to aisle with a cucumber, condoms, lube, and absolutely nothing else, I can't see how that's going to be particularly productive.

🤣🤣🤣 thanks for the laugh

Not heard that one before. They were only ever jewellery to me, (though my mum associated them with prostitution.)

I heard the prostitute rumour in the ‘80’s too.

Try wearing a “HW” charm or a ♠️ symbol

That might get you some attention x

This is cultural sexism and how we police sexuality with signs and symbols. Notice how there are no pieces of jewellery that we believe signify a man is sexually active with multiple partners. It makes me want to wear 37 ankle bracelets.

The "37 Club"? Blimey. Well, you're a bit of a dark horse, aren't you...! 😉

To be fair, people have ankle bracelets for many reasons. Shoplifting, for example.

I'd need a 50 Club bracelet. Maybe some kind of masculine charm one with room for that many on it.
😎

Two that I can think of immediately even considering that men wear less jewellery than women:

medallion for straight men
in my youth, a pierced ear was sometimes a sign of a gay man

Oh, do one, ffs. For a start nobody makes anybody wear anything. If a girl, or guy for that matter, wants to wear a bracelet anywhere, it's up to them.
