We haven't had sex now for 6 weeks, he is definitely going no contact with me. I have tried to cuddle and got nocked back, he actually turned his back on me.. Everything on day to day is normal. We are okay in normal day to day getting along. No problems.
Why doesn't he want sex?

it could be any number of things. Is being 'okay' getting along enough to both want sex? Are you married? Have you asked him about it?

LifeSurvior · 12/12/2025 05:44

We have been together 28 years.. Two kids both left home.. No I have not asked about it, just sort of drifted into no sex,
The more it got to be no sex the the more it got to be neither one of us initiated. I don't now because I don't want to be nocked back.

Op There is nothing worse than not having sex for no reason. It could be a multiple of reasons, medical all sorts.
You need to confront him and express your feelings asap

Gymbunny2025 · 12/12/2025 07:23

Do you mean all good for 28 years then suddenly nothing for 6 weeks?

yorkshireteabagman · 12/12/2025 11:39

when neither of you communicate you're heading on the road to nowhere. The answer here is in communication, strangers on the internet can only guess from a variety of reasons

Don't 'confront' him. No sexual issue (or any other issue really) will be dealt with by confrontation, which leads to either clamming up or defensive behaviour . You need to understand what is going on in his head and vice versa, so a frank, open and honest discussion, with kindness and genuine judgment-free curiosity is the way to go. I would suggest

We went out and actually had a date!
Both got ready, I put makeup on, had a bath, did my hair, really tried to remember and recreate when I first met him.
It actually worked, we had sex, it wasn't the same I suppose, it was nice, we both came.
I'm still thinking, why can't it be the mind blowing sex we used to have.

It does seem increasingly difficult the longer your relationship goes on to have anything like the mind blowing sex of early relationship, I know this isn’t the case for all,but it seems to be for a significant amount, just sadly becomes dull, vanilla and talking doesn’t seem to help, or maybe that’s just a sign the relationship is no longer what it was

It's a first step and something to build on?

Well if you've broke the ice again that's a good thing. Sometimes the burden of always having great sex can create performance anxiety. I think Ester Perell said it's better to be having occasional rubbish sex than none at all, cos then things can only get better🤣

helfullhand · 16/12/2025 17:52

Glad you had a good time.
Sometimes he may be in not mood or something could be bothering him. Its like when a man trying to initiate and women make excuses too. Sex may not be same as 30 years ago but yes if put a bit of an effort like you did to get ready sex could be too.
So perhaps have a open chat with him amd see if something in his mind.
Good luck

Because the sex you had when you first met was a novelty. It’s exciting and new. Of course that wanes over time as you become familiar with each other and settle into a routine. Plus the humdrum of daily life interferes… debating whose turn it is to empty the dishwasher isn’t exactly sexy!

I agree with a PP that Esther Perel is worth a watch. She has lots of tips about what couples
find attractive about each other and how to keep the spark alive.
