Hello

new partner is telling me not to be concerned - was DTD, he finished, and as he pulled out the condom slid off and stayed in me.

would anyone else take morning after pill or am I being dramatic?

is it still worth taking the MAP if I’ve already ovulated? I’m due on in one day..

I don’t think so - I thought it prevented ovulation so wouldn’t work afterwards, but perhaps it has other effects post ovulation? Might be worth asking a pharmacist.

Sorry to hear this happened. Don’t depend on your partner or MN. As the above poster days, speak to a pharmacist.

You would be unlikely to be pregnant if you're due on your period in 1 day. You would have been fertile around 10 to 14 days ago. But if you are really worried then it's best taking yourself to the pharmacy and getting advice.

I agree with this - highly unlikely to be pregnant. I read it wrong and thought you said you’re one day post ovulation.

Worth speaking to someone though, to put your mind at rest and you may find they recommend you take the MAP anyway.

Get him to buy the correct size of condoms too- they shouldn't be sliding off.

Girlmom35 · 10/07/2025 09:17

Are you only relying on condoms?
That doesn't sound very wise when you're in a new relationship. Condoms have a very high failure rate.
Yes, absolutely get the MAP, even if it's just for your peace of mind. And maybe consider other kinds of birth control?

They don't if used correctly. They're no less effective than other forms of contraceptive ( and the only way to protect against STIs) and not everyone wants to use hormonal contraception or is suitable to use it.

What is your source please?

Condoms, if used correctly, are only 85% effective when used as a birth control method. And improper use is also very prominent, lessening the efficacy even further.
In my opinion, that's pretty poor compared to IUD's for example, which are over 99% effective.
As a woman, you're also not in control of correct use. Your partner could have bought the wrong size. He could have applied it incorrectly. He could remove it during intercourse without you noticing.

I know hormonal contraceptives are not suitable for everyone, but it's worth considering if OP hadn't done so already.
I also know condoms are they only protection against STD's. I wasn't saying stop using condoms. I was saying maybe combine them with something else for better coverage.
This is also literally the advice you get when researching contraceptive methods, like on the site above.

Birth Control: Forms, Options, Risks & Effectiveness

Birth control prevents pregnancy. Types of birth control can include pills, condoms, IUDs or abstinence. Some forms of birth control work better than others.
