I miss my fwb

Just that really. Please don’t judge. I’ve been with my husband for many years and I just miss the spontaneity and excitement of the novel sex. It seems especially pronounced when I’m ovulating. I stopped our situation as I didn’t like cheating on my husband but I still find myself missing him. It’s been almost 6 months now. Will the menopause fix the way I’m feeling as I won’t be ovulating any longer?
any words of wisdom welcome 🙏

Evidence that sometimes, a little bit on the side can keep a marriage going.

Gymbunny2025 · 20/03/2025 20:22

Suggests he was more than a friend if you still miss him after 6 months?

MissMyFwb · 20/03/2025 20:48

Well it’s not really him, more that I enjoyed sex with him, and I felt comfortable and safe with him. I feel that loss @Gymbunny2025

It’s ok to grief the loss of the relationship as you would any other break up. But be careful not to view it through rose tinted glasses… it obviously wasn’t that amazing because you chose to end it. Every time you miss him, think about how shitty you felt cheating.

Time will fix the way you’re feeling. Delete all the messages and photos. Don’t look at his social media. Occupy your time with something else. And you’ll find you’re thinking of him less and less as time goes by.

Exactly as @PinotPony says you will have to allow yourself to grieve the relationship. Does your husband know? Could you feel those things about him again? If you want to stop ovulating (before menopause) go on the pill?!

Think you have to ask yourself, why it started & why you ended it.
Was it the guilt of cheating or something else?

In my experience ( talking about my friends, colleagues ect) 75% have “something else” outside of their relationship. Guilt isn’t a factor .

Lillibridge · 22/03/2025 08:35

I wouldn't feel too guilty about this. Nearly half of marriages have experienced some form of infidelity; be it a physical/sexual affair, an emotional affair, online messaging etc etc. With the growth of the Internet these incidences have grown in equal measure.

words of wisdom?
End your marriage then you can fuck as many novel people as you like

or have and open marriage. He is probably finding the sex as boring as you do
