He says that after ejaculating, he gets pains in his testicles which radiates up into his stomach. Does anyone know what this could be caused by? I told him he should go to the doctor but he won’t go.

He thinks I could have BV which causes it. Is that likely? I don't have any symptoms.

What???? Why does he think you have BV? Why would he say that?

Leilanii · 31/01/2025 00:15

He thinks I must have it because of the pains he's getting. He says the change in PH can cause this sort of thing. Even though I don't have any symptoms. Tbh even if I did have it I can't see how it would cause the symptoms he's getting.

I hate to be that person, but if one of the causes of pain after ejaculation is an STD, I wonder if he knows/suspects something and is deflecting on you to get a defence in place, especially as he is refusing to get checked.

Does he use condoms with you?

I hope I am wrong, but I would suggest that if he won't get checked, then you do.

NDerbys32 · 31/01/2025 08:26

GP visit required.

This.

People on MN on various threads can be very helpful, but in most cases, they are not medics. In addition, diagnosis is not possible from a few written sentences. It is so important that he sees a GP.

NDerbys32 · 31/01/2025 09:24

As a guy on here, I wouldn't assume it's STD related. Only yesterday I saw that prostate cancer is now the most commonly discovered cancer, with 20% being terminal diagnoses too.
I get this is MN but assumptions, based on minimal information, really aren't helpful in all cases.
Hope he gets checked out and good luck going forward OP.

Yes. I have said to him that we should both get checked for STIs. It has crossed my mind that it could be him deflecting.

But it also crossed my mind that it could be prostrate related as someone else has said. He's 56 so not that young.

Thanks for replies.

@StarlightLady yes I agree with you - I was just trying to see if anyone's dh had experienced similar symptoms etc.

I find it strange that he doesn't want to go to the doctor. Easier to blame me I guess.

What age is he? It sounds very much like prostatitis, which can be very painful and result in referred pain. It’s quite common in men in their 40s and older.

Alternively, it might be a testicle infection, which can be very painful with pain radiating up through the groin and abdomen. However, my personal experience of this was that the pain was caused by any sort of slight knock to the affected testicle and not by ejaculation.

Disclaimer: I’m not a medic but have suffered from both at different times. He’ll need to get it checked out by a doctor, which will inevitably require a finger up the bum as well as a testicle examination and maybe PSA blood test, but it’s always good to have this done anyway, and chances are that it’ll be treatable by antibiotics. In the case of the prostatitis, I was advised by the urologist to drink plenty of water as well.

@Leilanii

It pains me to say that unfortunately some men would rather die than take control of there of health. They will burn down their relationships rather than get treatment for ED.

God only knows what makes them do this in a country with free access to healthcare. Get him to go to the doctors. If he won’t I’d would genuinely loose a little respect for him as harsh as it sounds.

Hope he gets it sorted

Leilanii · 31/01/2025 10:22

Thanks @Joe7t8 he's 56

As l’ve said before on this forum (and have people disagree with me!) generally women are more used to having their bodies poked about for gyno reasons. It’s not pleasant but most of us put up with it.

For men it is often quite different with more reluctance to see a doctor.

l hope you both get things sorted OP.

Leilanii · 31/01/2025 14:28

Thank you. I've had a test for BV which was negative. I think I've persuaded him to go to the GP.

Good work. mid 50s is a good time to get the psa check sorted, as per a previous poster. Been there with the examination - it's no drama.

Update;

He went to the GP who has found he has a very inflamed prostate and will need antibiotics. He has left it like this for at least 6 months which is why it is now radiating to other parts of the body.

Glad he went. Fingers crossed its easily treatable and not anything sinister!

Fewer than 5% of men with a prostate cancer diagnosis will die from it. The rest die with it but from something else.
Some men can be cured and others can be treated, most for several years even if diagnosed as advanced.
Terminal means 6 months or less to live.
