Vibrator desensitised clitoris

burntheleaves · 10/12/2024 21:29

I'm finding it harder to cum. It might be my age with menopause and all the joys that brings. But I've wondered if it could be daily clitoral stimulating vibrators that gave desensitised me.
I've heard all about death grip and how that can desensitise men's penis's so I can't see how this wouldn't happen to women also

Yes it mostly likely is daily clitoral stimulating vibrators.

You need to stop them for about 6 months at least and let your nerve endings recover. Might be 8-9 months. If you're lucky and the natural sensation actually comes back.

Vibrators are totally unnaturally strong and I am dead against them.

I know now I might be shot down but at least I will have flown an arc of truth...

An untouched clitoris will respond beautifully to your or someone else's finger, someone else's tongue, and the tip of someone else's penis. And/or just rubbing against him.

And if you don't have a partner, then think about one. It works a treat.

I'm waiting for the pellets to start hitting my wings.........

Ok, disclaimer: of course I think everyone can do what they want, and for some, mechanical stimulation is an absolute must and works amazingly. I don't in any way attempt to say what someone else should do. I have my own way and that's me. But if asked so directly for my opinion, I'll give it.

StarlightLady · 11/12/2024 07:07

In addition to 1:1 sex, I’ve been a regular and very frequent solo vibey user since my late teens, now in my 40s. For me the needs are quite different. I’m happy to report that everything is in good working order and equally responsive.

Obviously, l can only speak for myself here. Could there be other factors? For example, stress, medication, or even the pill itself. Hormonal contraception can have an impact.

GigiAnnna · 11/12/2024 08:14

I think once your body knows the quickest route to orgasm, it remembers that and nothing else quite cuts it. I use a wand which is very powerful, so other weaker vibrators don't do it for me now. When I want to get off on my own I always use that. I had a rabbit vibrator I loved but now if I use that, it doesn't feel like much. I can sometimes cum with it but it takes ages and feels weaker. What I have noticed in the past with toys is I can't chop and change, once I get used that works for me to I can only cum with that unless I take a break and let my body "forget" that one.
However, it hasn't affected my ability to orgasm with my husband. He has a specific technique that feels amazing to me and isn't comparable to a feeling vibrations. It's a completely different method.

Why would anyone want to rend your plumage with shot?

I do think you have a point. My DW enjoys oral, but when I bought her a vibe some years ago, oral never seemed quite to get her there despite all my variations. I'm not particularly concerned but I did notice.

ChilledProsecco · 11/12/2024 09:25

I'm feeling your pain, OP!

I was always able to climax through PIV, then was in a sexless marriage for about a decade.

Got used to my right hand, porn & buzzy friend.

Last year I had a new relationship & could not get there at all with him in 6 months.

Am seeing someone now who has been on his own too, and neither of us is getting there, but the sex is enjoyable.

So I've stopped sorting myself out & hoping iI can find my orgasm again!! X

I've always wondered if there was a death grip equivalent.

I also work in engineering and there's a think called Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) that leads to white finger when using power tools like hand held drills, impact drivers etc. So begs the question is white clit a thing too.

No because an orgasm with a vibrator takes minutes if not seconds. I doubt anyone uses it for hours on end with no breaks.

Exactly. I’m not sure l could quite achieve “in seconds” though!

I would have thought non stimulation for a lengthy period of time is more likely to cause lack of sensitivity. Hence the expression use it or lose it. I’m a fan of regular exercise personally.

The clitty (my word, l’ve been criticised before for using it, but l fail to see why it should offend anyone) soon bounces back to “full functionality” after orgasm, so l can’t think that an HAV type thing, which l assume would be longer term, would happen.

Dameruoy · 11/12/2024 22:26

I heard they make you want more stimulation because it does desensitise you, so they design new vibrators and toys. Think it was mentioned on Risqué Business on Netflix. I threw mine away.

TruthSeeker12345 · 12/12/2024 05:54

Yes, vibrators can temporarily numb the clitoris. You might consider getting a clitoral suction stimulator toy. There are several companies that have several different toys that do clitoral suction stimulation.

Temporarily yes! So does a good oral session from someone who knows what they are doing. But surely “temporally temporary” so to speak? I’m ready again later the same day.

Yet death grip is a thing. If that affects men's ability to cum through PIV then surely the same would happen to women.

Stronger more efficient and quick methods desensitising the organs

WereHereAndItsNow · 12/12/2024 12:04

As a penis owner I don’t believe death grip is a thing.
I believe it is more likely neurological in that a well-practised efficient physical stimulus is achieved with a hypersexual sensory visual and audio stimulus (porn) that then effects the ability to achieve the same level of hyper sensation when in partnered sex with a real person.

However, if death grip was a thing, then the grip is the sensation around the shaft and not direct stimulation to the Glands Penis. Therefore, would the equivalent of death grip for the female anatomy not be the stimulation with a large, girthed dildo or thrusting machine and not over stimulation of the Glands clitoris? This is unlikely as you can pass a baby though there and it return to relative normality which is again why I don’t believe either exist.

Something may just have changed ,you could try and break your current cycle by changing your old efficient routine up by using a different sensory stimulus or use one if you don’t already or by changing you stimulation with a different type of toy a broader based wand or shower head or a grind pad or a combination of both.

Always a bit controversial on MN but me and my partner have watched all the available content of OMGyes where lots of women talk candidly about their own masturbation techniques and use toys and varied stimulus and have taken on board a few new things.

I realise that the above is peak mansplanation but here I am 😔

Best of luck x

But women are physically so different to men. I really don’t see why something should apply to both sexes.

TruthSeeker12345 · 12/12/2024 21:08

Note that women, on average, take 13 minutes to orgasm. If your partner is interested, you could investigate Orgasmic Meditation (OM). OM uses a limit of 15 minutes for stimulation. There is a book about this, and there is information on this online.

If used a lot can deffo do that. It’s equally the same for me when I was constantly using a real feel large girthy toy and it was the only way I could cum and my partner just couldn’t compare at all. In the end I had to stop using it and sec become a lot more better over time and now I use toys like that either with him or if alone a lot less regularly.

Well yes. But nerve endings are nerve endings I was thinking. I know orgasms aren't just about physical stimulation when it's sex but they sort of are just about physical stimulation when using a vibrator. So I guess I'm thinking if overstimulation can cause desensitisation in a penis or a finger /hand in the case of vibrating machinery mentioned earlier then wouldn't it do the same with a clitoris. Just wouldn't over stimulation of anything cause desensitisation eventually
