Who here has seen the Wandsworth Prison sex video? What are your thoughts?

There is a video being circulated online that shows a female prison officer having sex with an inmate in Wandsworth Prison. I won't be linking to it on MN but it can easily be found on Twitter/X. Here's an article about it (without the video): www.bbc.com/news/articles/c047nnjgdp4o It shows them having unprotected sex and also shows her giving him a BJ. I've seen it myself. A lot of people are understandably disgusted by it. I'm wondering how it will be received here in the sex section itself.

From the sounds of it, the woman was probably the least suitable person to work in a prison you could think of. I don't think woman shouldn't be prison guards. I do think they should be very carefully vetted (as should men). From the sounds of it this is a case of "pay peanuts, get monkeys" - the UK prison service is falling apart, massively unfunded and overcrowded and the complete chaos resulting is causing shit like this. As well as much greater prisoner on prisoner sexual violence and male prison guard violence and sexual exploitation.

I do think she should have the book thrown at her, but I also think the power dynamic would be different if it were a male prison guard and female prisoner.

I am baffled as to why she’s risked this. Losing so much. She can’t be very bright.

There would be a physical strength difference. Plus women are more vulnerable to pregnancy etc. But there is still a massive power imbalance between a female guard and a male prisoner. Physical strength is only one part of it.

But how would vetting know this would happen? Vetting check someone’s identity for security reasons.
They can’t tell if someone in the future is going to have sex with a prisoner..

Not true at all, most woman in male prisons are professional. The same goes for men in female prisons.

Its actually far better to have a mixture of both male and female staff.

What you say may be true in general, but how do you guard against the rogue member of staff?
Remember, sexual misconduct of this pattern can be used as a lever for blackmail.

You can’t. Quite simply that’s not possible. Vetting isn’t perfect but you can’t account for everyone that ‘might ‘ be rogue.

Im sure it’s been proven previously that female staff in male prisons was positive because they can diffuse situations and often provide a more caring nature.

Some female staff , particularly of a certain age can be seen as a mother type figure, a good role model , particularly for men who never really had a positive female in their lives.

I'm confused as to why so many female prison officers are attracted to thugs.

Macho Alpha-Males

They're not macho alpha-males. Men have a deep sense of justice, morality, the difference between right and wrong, etc. There isn't a single man in prison who has masculine characteristics.

No,

But this was someone who had an active Only fans account and was publically into swinging (I think had done interviews about both, presumably to publicise the Only Fans. Quite possibly the filmed prison sex was too ). None of those things are illegal. And I don't think having/having had an only fans should automatically disqualify someone from other employment. But a teacher wouldn't be allowed to for example. I think it's reasonable to say "having this job excludes you from doing this job at the same time". Lots of workplaces ban people from having second jobs full stop.
As it is, she has boosted her profile for her side hustle a massive amount. Unfortunately (for her) it's also led to her facing criminal charges.

I know how Victorian this sounds. But a woman who is very sexually promiscuous in a very public way (and apparently enjoys voyeurism) might not be the best choice for a guard in a man's prison

ItsTheGAGGGGGGGG · 30/06/2024 23:50

People keep on saying ‘why did she do it knowing she was being recorded’ but she had an OF account. Even if she does get a small amount of jail time, the amount of fans she’ll have on there and other apps such as tiktok will increase massively. Her husband probably got off of it too seeing as they were 🍍

Criminals are predators, permanently on the lookout for opportunities to take advantage of those weaker than themselves.
'Taking candy from babies' is entirely acceptable and expected.

No, but they are likely to be aggressive, tolerant to risk and status- and money-orientated. These are all from a list I got from a quick google of masculine characteristics.

PassingStranger · 02/07/2024 13:38

How low can she go?

What message is she sending out to the victims of his crime?
Must have something mentally missing.

The only characteristic there that's masculine is risk-taking. The others are not masculine. Google lied.

I have seen the video and what struck me was, she left herself in an extremely vulnerable situation with 2 physically strong, bigger males in a closed room. When she dropped her issue trousers, she lost control of her keys, radio and personal alarm. This could've very very easily turned into a hostage situation or placed her and the other inmates on the wing in danger. Whatever plan they had hatched r.e social media, it could've so easily been a double bluff and she should consider herself lucky she wasn't attacked or worse. For that reason I do think she should face the most serious consequences.
As for the two inmates, they will probably be punished for the phone etc but will have successfully managed to undermine the prison services integrity and made it look to all wannabe louts that jail is somehow appealing and easy. The prison service should seek damages from the female officer to the tune of whatever she makes from OF and she should never be allowed to work in a position of trust again.

There is also the Blackmail problem.
I believe an American woman, employed to oversee a prison workroom, was sexually involved with a group of inmates who blackmailed her into providing items that were later used for an escape attempt that resulted in the deaths of two or three prison officers.
She is now serving a life sentence which, In America, means Life!
