Does anyone have any knowledge on this?

My anxiety is through the roof and it's affecting my relationship. I've had irritation on and off for over a year. Generally around the same time as meeting partner.

All STI tests are negative and anytime I've gone to the GP with an irritation thinking its been herpes has been dismissed and they've said its not.

Ive not got blisters as such but burning and redness on and off for weeks. I have had thrush in the past. We use lube but have changed brands incase it was that and still no change.

I can't say anything to him until I feel I k ow for sure. My only partner before him was of 10 years and I was single for 3 years inbetween him

Poor you, this sounds tough. If you're starting perimenopause, it may be a lack of oestrogen, which would be treatable with topical oestrogen. This has the delightful name of vaginal atrophy and there's an excellent Facebook group on the topic. I also recommend them because the group members are knowledgeable about other possible conditions such as lichen sclerosis.

You deserve to have this figured out, so do keep reading around pestering your GP and also seeing if your local sexual health clinic and/or a dermatology referral may help.

Herpes tends to be a sore, first outbreak will be multiple sores and then tends to be a single one. You can usually see an actual sore more than redness. I’d say that sounds different. Sounds horrible, and I hope they can find a solution soon

Herpes is simple enough for a doctor to diagnose if one is having an outbreak, because of its characteristic appearance. So if you have seen a GP when you are experiencing the problems and they have said it isn't herpes, the chances are that they are correct.

That's not true actually. The only way to dx is via a swab on an active sore, at exactly the right time.
If you've never been swabbed, the NHS are not going to positively dx herpes.
It can look like lots of things, or nothing much

Having said that, OP, if there isn't even any sore to swab, you are very unlikely to have herpes so I don't think you should worry

The only way you can know is to go to a GUM clinic when you have a sore
they will test it there and then
