Anyone had/has the copper coil.
Could you please give me the pros and cons?

Yes I’ve had several. Pros for me is that they don’t contain hormones and for me that’s a massive plus, I prefer to have a natural cycle. For me it’s great because once fitted I can just leave for years and not think about contraception. Only con for me is having it fitted, quite painful. Other than that highly recommend.

@Andrewsgirl thanks for your comment.
Do you find your periods are heavier and longer with it?
After the birth of my second daughter my periods became quite heavy for the first couple of days so I'm worried it would make them worse

No not at all. I had a few weeks of spotting after each coil was fitted but once settled down periods exactly the same as without a copper coil.

The pros - no hormones.

The cons - I've had two in the past 10 years. First one got lost/wasn't fitted correctly. Second one the same, and caused an infection.

I didn't find them any more uncomfortable to have fitted than what I feel when having a smear.

DH had a vasectomy a couple of months ago!

@dazzlerdo short - two days, heavy and I'd also get terrible pain when ovulating.

I had heavier, painful crampy periods but prior to the coil my periods were painfree so I just thought I was finally experiencing what most women went through. Fitting it was unpleasant. But it worked well! Have you looked at the FPA Sexwise website? That has a lot of information on all methods of contraception.
A lot of women are fine with it and a lot have my experience.
I think you just have to try it and see
Taking it out is very straightforward, and pretty painless.

I have had copper coils that were great for years, I've also had poor experience with them. It might be a case of what suits you at the time. I now have Mirena, which is hormone releasing, but I love it. Tiny bleed, no negative side effects.
